Usually when I try the hottest sauce at some wing place, it's way too salty to enjoy. If you want clean heat, go to CaJohn.

I used to do food binges with friends when I was in College. Just take an hour and order something from all of your favorite locations and take them home and chow down. Its a challenge in itself to not eat the first item you get before picking up the rest.

I like the idea of challenges that aren't purely based on quantity (no disrespect intended to the Dagwood etc.)
Wings / heat is one.
Perhaps extreme food could be another. Sadly they have discontinued the pupae dish at Diaspora....Great idea! I love spicy hot foods and always require much more wasabi than initially provided when feasting on sushi. Count me in as a contestant.

I'm ready to eat. But I'd prefer to be involved in a beer drinking, patio sitting, cigarette smoking competition.

Cajohn's had a hot sauce challenge at the North Market Fiery Food festival last year. You had to down a tiny medicine spoon sample of 13 hot sauces to enter a drawing for a gift certificate. The last 3 were made with the Jolokia/Ghost pepper. They started very mild and I didn't have any problems until the last sauce, but after that I couldn't see to sign up for the drawing.

There are TONS of food challenges around here, I'll try to list everything I can think of.
1. "Don't Choke" chili challenge at West Side Beefery. If you can drink or eat 64 oz. of their chili you get a free 32 oz. chili tub to take home. No picking out beans and if you choke you automatically lose. That's why they say don't choke.
2. Finish the XXL fries at Potato World and they give you a football made of potato skin instead of pig skin. You might say "that's not fun" but food isn't about fun. It's about nutrition.
3. Tim Hortons. It's not an official challenge but if you bring in a cardboard box you can reach behind the counter and grab as many donuts as you can fit in the box before they grab your hand or yell "stop." They put your picture on the wall like the other challenges though.

The Tim Horton's one includes the free car ride and overnight stay in fabulous downtown Columbus as well, right? ;)

I want to thank everyone for posting all these Columbus restaurant eating challenges. I run a website devoted to featuring restaurant food challenges and we rely heavily on local people like you to find restaurants to feature. We have featured Joseppi's before http://bestfoodchallenges.com/joseppis-pizza-mega-meat-challenge/, but you have given us leads to hopefully feature many other Columbus restaurants.

More here linkI did the Two Mad Dogs challenge...and I think it might be impossible. It's a lotta food, in a short amount of time. Good food though!
There's also a pancake challenge up at Gena's Restaurant in Westerville. It was tough because the pancakes are the size of hubcaps and just about as dense. Good stuff though.

I do know that Neighbor's Deli on Henderson has their mammoth sandwich challenge.
Also, Acme Sausage on Cleveland Ave. Has one as well.
Max & Erma's was considering a double garbage burger challenge, but thought better of it.
