I can't speak specifically to Gallery Hop, but I know that a lot of cart owners are having trouble with operating in the cold.

It's a taco truck run by the people that used to run El Escondido (when it was across from Vic's/Shrunken Head). They've been open for short periods of time but seem to be still working out the bugs. They've told us they intend to be open from 9am - 10pm.

Out trial has been quite the learning experience. Some have reported huge success and others have said the opposite.

You'll see some of them return to the Hop when it warms up a bit in the Spring.

Thanks for responding! Can you elaborate some? Obviously business specific info is to be considered confidential, but I am wondering what issues there were as expressed by vendors, other businesses and Hop-goers.

A few issues that we have is the lack of street/pedestrian lighting we have in the district. The food carts are huge draw for the hop crowd - the visitors love them. However, they are placed in locations to help us bridge some gaps and keep foot traffic moving from one end to the other and currently we just don't have the proper lighting for visitors to feel safe.

On the other hand, we do have a few vendors who have said the hop was the most profitable yet! I have such an admiration for what they all do - they are out there daily in places all over the city - and wow they are the social media kings, no matter the day and/or time, they let us know where they are.

When it warms up a bit, we'll be thinking through strategically where and how we can find the perfect fit for them.

Sounds like a good deal of the concerns are not food cart specific, but larger issues whose solutions will benefit everyone. The Ray Ray's spot last hop was really nice, carving out a little niche in the Ibiza chain-link eyesore. Maybe some other options to in-fill from the cool art work at the corner to that end?

There has been a lot of interesting and creative stuff popping up lately and I look forward to what the new year will bring.

Bumping this back up in light of the Potosinos brouhaha.

Over a year into this, what is the result? It seems to me that we have a ton of food trucks in Columbus, but aside from the one Hop with a Food Truck Food Court they have been been using the available slots.
