The Dispatch wrote
City offers something for all ages and tastes on New Year's EveTuesday, January 1, 2008
BY GARRETT DOWNING AND MATTHEW MARX
Lobster claws, evening dresses and chocolate-dipped strawberries helped revelers welcome a new year. So, too, did an inflatable slide, face painting and cotton candy.
Columbus had something for everybody of every age last night.
Arena District bars bulged with merrymakers who didn't turn their focus to celebrating the last hours of 2007 until after the Blue Jackets won.
Many bars didn't start hopping until after the crowd -- treated to a Rick Nash hat trick, no less -- had dispersed. Until then, 20-somethings in dresses much too nice for a typical night out chatted about all the hype that New Year's Eve generates. The parties, the anticipation are always a disappointment, one said, as she sipped mixed drinks with her friends at a private party ($90 a head for food, drink, a band and general merriment) at Park Street Tavern in the Arena District.

We were able to see the First Night fireworks from the Hartman and they were good!! I love how "in" to fireworks Columbus is. I'd watch them everyday :)
Blue Jackets game was awesome and actually pretty full considering. All those people who left after the 2nd period, you missed one hell of a celebration. I'm off to get my free chili!!
Happy New Year everyone!

I have to agree with you on the fireworks thing... I can see the Picnic w/ the Pops fireworks AND the Crew Stadium fireworks from my house and it never fails to make me happy. If only it didn't freak out our little dog so much!
