If on April 1 you come upon an artist at work on the street painting a building, it's no April Fool.
As part of Finding Time: Columbus Public Art 2012, and in celebration of 200Columbus, Four-Season Urban Plein Air Paintings will launch on April 1 and continue through the end of the year. Members of Central Ohio Plein Air will paint six paintings per season on buildings in the downtown core.
The plein air style, a French term that means "in open air," refers to a process in which the artist paints a subject on location. For Finding Time, the locations will be unexpected sites around downtown, such as side streets, alleys, parking lots, and other nooks and crannies.
So if you come upon an artist at work or a beautiful surprise painting, consider yourself a part of the celebration. And enjoy.
