Press Release:
FIMM to bring jobs and investment to Columbus

FIMM Italia SpA, the world's leading manufacturer of metal broom handles, has announced that it has selected Columbus, Ohio, to locate its new production facility.
FIMM USA, a supplier of the most well-known houseware brands and stores, will invest 6.5 million in capital investment in Columbus for its manufacturing operations. The company plans to add 25 full time jobs and be operational in the second quarter of 2012.
“We are excited to have FIMM USA creating jobs in the city of Columbus,” said Mayor Coleman, city of Columbus. “Businesses like FIMM USA are why Columbus is repeatedly recognized as the best big city for job growth in the Midwest and why we are coming out of this recession stronger than we went in.”
“The City of Columbus has invested in job creation efforts that stretch across Ohio, the United States and around the world,” said Councilmember Zach M. Klein, chair of the Development Committee. “Our regional partners at Columbus2020 are making it possible to bring companies like FIMM USA to our area, diversifying and growing our economy.”
The company selected Columbus, citing the region’s cost competitiveness and strength in logistics and distribution as a few of the determining factors. “We anticipate producing a great product in Columbus, Ohio, and at a cost-competitive price,” said Enrico Spinelli, CEO of Spinelli Group. “The state of Ohio, City of Columbus, Columbus City Council and Columbus2020 has been instrumental in making the decision for FIMM to locate in Columbus in an easy, coordinated effort.”
The new operation will be at 5454 Alkire Rd. Columbus, Ohio, and the recruitment of staff will begin soon.
“Increasing our base of international companies in the region is important for continued growth and diversity in our economy,” said Kenny McDonald, chief economic officer at Columbus2020. “We welcome FIMM to the region and offer our congratulations and continued support.”
