Unborn child to 'testify' on Ohio abortion bill

COLUMBUS, Ohio Ã¢â‚¬â€ A fetus has been scheduled as a legislative witness in Ohio on a unique bill that proposes outlawing abortions after the first heartbeat can be medically detected.

Faith2Action, the anti-abortion group that has targeted Ohio to pilot the measure, called the in-utero witness the youngest to ever come before the House Health Committee at 9 weeks old.

The "political theater" just finally sank to the level of modern cinema. This is pretty much the political version of "The hotty and the notty 2 IN 3D".

I'm hearing that they couldn't get the heartbeat, via standard ultrasound. And that a vaginal ultrasound was suggested, but shot down. (Can't imagine why, seems so natural to do that in a room full of people, ya know, in a courtroom.)

The Maddow Blog has more on this stunt.

Ms. Porter, the woman behind this theater, co-chaired Mike Huckabee's Faith and Family Values coalition in 2007. She also organized the "Values Voter Debate". Maddow has some video from that freak show, not to be missed is a gospel choir singing "Why Should God Bless America?"

There's a murder in the obstetrics wing of Central City hospital, and a fetus is the only witness... but the mother's the suspect, and under the rules of the state she could abort it at any time! Fearing for the fetus's survival, it is entered into the witness protection program and must be escorted to a safehouse (a block of cement with an indentation in it for the mother's belly). But on the way there, the convoy is attacked and destroyed, leaving only a lone-wolf cop who refuses to play by the rules. Now he, the fetus, and the woman desperate to kill it are all bound together by the twine of fate in a race against the clock (literal car race) to make sure justice is served.

Ohio would have the most-restrictive abortion limits in the country if a bill before state legislators becomes law.

Members of the House Health Committee watched silently in a packed hearing room yesterday as ultrasounds were given to two pregnant women. The fetal heartbeats were played through speakers while any movement was shown on a large projector screen.
