Anyone buy into the urban legends of the walhalla and glen echo ravines? There's websites and people I've talked to that claim of hauntings in the area. I've never experienced anything out of the ordinary. Though, I get a pretty strong feeling of unease at the glen echo park. I wouldn't try it alone at night time.

First off, lived in both and favorite is southside. Walhalla and Glen Echo Ravines are huge draws. Tress everywhere. Everything is in walking distance. Very strong neighborhood involvement. Great restaurants, pubs, groceries (box and locally owned), Studio 35.
As for the ravines, Mooney Mansion has always been the stuff of urban legend and I have heard the rumors for years. as for Glen Echo Ravine, that's just not a safe place to be after dark. Not urban legends, just fact.
The north is a great but much more suburban feel, largely because the homes are only b50-60 years old---except in the Oakland Park, Torrance area.

Yo, you is serrrrriously tryin' to start sum shit. Chill out or Columbus' favorite suburban gang, the "C-Villians" will resurrect their tattooed headz...
F'real though, this is an odd discussion. It's like asking 'what's your favorite aisle of Krogers?' The beauty of the "Ville" is it's diversity and flexibility. Grad student, artist, cooperative, redneck, young hip family, old hip family, patagonia family, catholic school-is-our-life-12 children family, group home, crazy realtor with huge mansion family... It's awfully white but it's demographic still cannot be easily pigeonholed, which is a reason I really love it.
Quit tryin' to parse up my hood, yo.

I'm moving to the North Campus/South Clintonville area (Dodridge) this weekend. I'm really only familiar with what's along high street.
Any locals have some tips for interesting, off-the-beaten-path spots?I better, since I claim to have the best neighborhood guide to the city.

That's a cool blog you got going there. Hivner, not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but sorry to anger you so much. I wasn't trying to cause any emotional strain or start a riot between portions of the neighborhood. My intent was simply an easy going, fun discussion about my favorite neighborhood in the city.

http://columbus-ite.com/columbus-neighborhoods/university-district/old-north-columbus/Fun stuff! I bet the Arcade Fire rumor is tongue in cheek-I do kinda like their new record, too, though I don't think it is about Clintonville...

What is Mooney Mansion?
I like the westside- but I live on the westside of the ville. I agree that there are a ton of reasons to love it here. I am so glad that we decided to buy a house in this part of the city. Clintonville for life!
