That's a tough one! I'm more familior with the east side (where I live), so I'm probably biased, but I do like some of the old Zoo area on the west side though. I live about as south as one can get, so really I'd like to live on the north side (E or W) some day. :)

I am a lifelong resident of the 43214. I think of Clintonville as North vs. South...actually North North (Beechwold). North (Glenmont to East North Broadway and South (Beyond there be hippies). I live in Beechwold but like South Clintonville much better. What Beechwold does have - better off street parking, a GOOD Kroger, some hidden parks, Northstar and soon Jeni's.

I edited my post to include Kroger and or Giant Eagle for the west side. I've always liked the west side, and will be moving there, and I've always overlooked the east side. But recently I've been walking through the east side some more, and I really have to say that I'm starting to think that it may just be as good or better than the west side.
And as far as North vs South Clintonville, that's another interesting way to divide it. That's another tough one. I'd have to go with north clintonville.

I live on the West side, but I would happily live on either. That said, we also have Wholly Craft, Whole World, Pattycake, Lavash, Rag-O-Rama,the Antique Mall, and way more.
Also, the West side is a little funkier- there are sculptures in yards, creative gardens, people hanging out on porches drinking wine in the evenings, and many walkers, runners, and bikers heading down to the park. There's a little more diversity in building usage, more apartments and duplexes, so there's a broader range of income and age.
As for N v S, I wouldn't turn down a house on Blenheim, but the South side is more walkable.
Now, if someone would just put a music venue around here, I would never have to leave (though, of course, that would be sad).

Living on W. North Broadway, I'm going to have to side with "middle" Clintonville, but I really like the area west of High, mostly for the parks and trails.

There's stuff I like both east and west, but between my apartment, the Olentangy Trail, more restaurants, the ghost of Olentangy Park, and Whetstone Library, I definitely spend more time on the west side of High St. That said, some of my favorite stuff (Walhalla Ravine, Laughing Ogre, Studio 35, and lately the Foodie Cart) is all on the east side of High St.
I do have a preference for south Clintonville (I'd love to one day buy a house around the Glen Echo/North Columbus border area), but there's a lot I like to the north, if we mark the divide at North Broadway. If we mark the splint at Henderson, then pretty much everything I love in the area in the in the southern half.

You know I'm going to have a bias toward the river. You can put in at Northmoor and paddle north as far as the lowhead by Antrim if you like. It's a completely different view of the area.
Plus, the you have the current behind you on the way back.

I live in the Crestview neighborhood (east of high between Weber and Kelso). The neighborhood is very walkable (my kid walks to school) and I have a great 3.5 mile running route that takes me through Walhalla and Glen Echo ravines! Oh, and don't forget about Yeah Me Too on Indianola.

I'm moving to the North Campus/South Clintonville area (Dodridge) this weekend. I'm really only familiar with what's along high street.
Any locals have some tips for interesting, off-the-beaten-path spots?

You can climb down to the Olentangy bike trail from dodridge and go fishing at the Olentangy. There's Hounddog's pizza hangout, a cool video store up the street from you in the north campus video, there's plenty of bars. It's a cool area.
