I had a friend who went to Fabian's today and said he was ripped off. The menu clearly states $7 off large pizza Thurs- Sun. and 1/2 off appetizers 3-8. The manager refused to adjust the bill and said the menu has been wrong for six months... No way. I really don't want to believe that. Anyone been there recently?

I don't know. There's something about this story that isn't getting told. I've been multiple Sundays and other days of the week and the special has always been honored. Definitely within the past six months.
Note to original poster, spreading your story far and wide on the intarwebs probably isn't the best way to handle the situation.

Looks like it's been going on for a lot longer than 6 months.

I think if any business is going to take the whole back page of their menu to advertise a promotion and not honor it it should be spread around. I haven't experienced it first hand, but judging by other threads from a google search, it looks like this has happened more than once.

I think people should be fair when posting personal reviews and opinions about businesses online, but that doesn't mean that only positive interactions should make the distribution rounds and negative interactions should be handled as quietly and privately as possible. As long as what is being said is accurate, it's no fault of the reviewer for sharing something like this.
That being said, I'd be willing to give Fabian's another chance someday. Just not in any rush to do so.

i've been there a few times in the past 6 months as well... and as far as i knew they only have that $7 off large pizzas on 1 night of the week only. it was definitely an off night, like mon-weds. we can never remember so we call first to find out.
i wonder if they had a miss print on menus and kept using them anyways.

It upsets me that this issue could be resolved so easily, but it hasn't been. I know how hard it is to justify spending extra money to go out these days, and I hope when I go out my experience isn't shrouded by a misunderstanding.

Their website now reads, "This domain is for sale. Please email us to make us an offer:". http://www.fabianspizza.com/contactus.html
That seems like a bad sign.
Is it possible that the current shop owner does not own the FabiansPizza.com domain?

Then refuse to pay more than the amount on the menu.
I have a feeling if a few people did this, they would rush to corect the menu.

Sounds like a great investigative topic for a local newscast...

You know the saying about restaurants. If what you can see is dirty, imagine what the kitchen's like. These guys would rather have people complain than fix the issue so imagine the care that goes into other areas of their business. I've never been there, it could be a great place that simply made a mistake, but I doubt it. Best way to make them change is to hit them in the pocketbook by letting others know about the issue, especially if it's happening regularly and could be easily fixed.

it sounds like management may be getting their wires crossed. i believe that Fabian's and Mac's share owners and that since Mac's the is older, more popular of the two, Fabian's is more of an afterthought. I mean, only until recently has Mac's website even been anything other than "site under construction, please check back soon"; and even now, it's just simple text and jpgs of the menu.
since this household was offered the sunday deal a mere two weeks ago, i'm gonna give Fabian's the benefit of the doubt.
@walker, i've been hearing that many of those entertainment book coupons are not being honored by other businesses, especially when it comes to take out. given that the third party who publishes this book is exhaustive in its national coverage, i wonder if a small business not honoring the coupon is more a relationship management issue with the publisher than anything else.

If that is the case, then as a customer, I still don't feel as if their issues should be passed along to me in this manner.
My intention was never to go out of my way to "bash" them in any manner though. I've had their pizza before, and I like it, and I'm sure I'll order it again sooner or later. It sounds like they could stand to do a little PR work though. A little bit goes a long way sometimes.
