This entire week has been pretty awful, but today is supposed to be the really hot one. Supposed to get up to 98 degrees, and with humidity it's pushing the heat index up to around 110 degrees.
Stay indoors if you can, and stay hydrated if you do need to go out.

Yeah, our central ac went out about a month ago. we've been using a 10,000 btu window ac and fans to blow it through the house. the house has stayed cool and my electric bill has been cut to 1/3 of what it was last year. due to the heat we've had, I went out last night and got a 2nd 5000 btu window unit for the front room to help. Hope that sucker is still in there when I get home!

I usually open the house in the morning to let the cool air in, but that doesn't work so well on a 75F morning.
Normally the a/c doesn't run until the afternoon, sometimes never. I run the house at about 78F but that varies with location in the house, warmer upstairs and coolest in the basement.

Yeah no kidding! Its so hot that there has been a condensation build up on my ac pipes closest to the edge of my house. Its awesome when theres a wet spot on your kitchen ceiling and theres no explanation for it. Now theres a hole in my ceiling with a bucket underneath. I guess I'm going to have to wrap the pipe with insulation or something. This hasn't happened in the few years we've lived here and the ac guy said it was becuase of extreme heat. Great!

Yep. No air conditioning here. That's *next* summer's investment.
It hasn't been too bad this week. Open the windows and run the fans at night; close the windows and drapes during the day. Lots of time in the shady, breezy backyard. When I water the plants, there's always a lot of spillover on the concrete, and the cats like to lie on those cool spots.
It's been kinda fun to socialize with the neighbors when we all come out to work in our gardens by 6:30 in the morning....
