Columbus, Ohio – Evolution Theatre Company will present A Question of Mercy by David Rabe based upon the Journal by Richard Selzer. ''Sometimes it's easy to find answers to the hard questions. This play asks the hard, hard questions and there are no easy answers.'' A Question of Mercy probes the sensitive and controversial issue of doctor-assisted suicide.
Anthony’s (Daniel Christian) life has become a myriad of endless symptoms and hopeless desperation. With the help of his lover and caretaker, Thomas (C J Chapman) and friend, Susanah (Heather Caldwell), Anthony seeks the guidance of an understanding doctor, Dr. Chapman (Mark Phillips Schwamberger), who will put an end to his suffering. First unwilling, but soon persuaded by Anthony’s charm and dignity he agrees to assist. Dr. Chapman devises a methodical plan that must be meticulously followed. As the time comes and passes, all their wishes and plans are swept aside by a force that proves stronger than any of their desires or decisions.
Opening Night June 20, 2012 will be a benefit performance for Stonewall Columbus! Evolution Theatre Inc. will donate half of all tickets sales from that evening’s performance to Stonewall Columbus to celebrate Pride month and to assist them in their ongoing support of the LGBT community in Columbus. All tickets for that evening are $20.00.
Performances will be presented at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, Van Fleet Theatre, 549 Franklin Ave. Columbus, OH 43215. Ticket prices are $20; $15 for seniors and students with an ID.
