So there aren't any from Columbus on here, but I know some of you enjoy reading about this stuff as much as I do...so here it is. :D
And for those of you that travel a lot, you can make a must eat sandwich list to take with you on your travels.

I've had a number of these. Some are quite good. Some are more about the location than the food. Some are odd - Allen and Sons is good, but no where close to the best in NC. I do miss Jazz Fest and the Cochon de Lait sandwhich though.
Salumi (Mario Batali's Dad's place) in Seattle is the hands-down best. The porchetta sandwhich, as good as it is, takes a back seat to the incredible platter of salumi made by a true artisan. My 8 yr is the King of Cured Meat products and proudly wears his Salumi hat. A few blocks away is the Dry Soda Company which makes the perfect accompaniment and they don't mind if you bring them in. (Jeni's carries these, btw.) I work with a guy in Seattle and I feel the need for a business trip.

My favorite little foodie, you crack me up. Someone in the neighborhood needs to start making that sandwhich. It does sound like the greatest hangover cure of all time.

I have done plenty of research myself, but if anybody else has any opinions, who makes the best sammies in Columbus? Or anywhere else for that matter. I'm kinda biased towards sandwiches without dead animals in them, but I'm sure many people have an opinion as to who's number one.

this was a good issue
which is good because i thought the last couple were a bit slow
then again i am a HUGE sandwich fan
some of the descriptions of the sandwiches are a bit too vague though

Well - we do have the Dagwood (March 1st eating event... from another post). We have a couple good burgers as well.
Columbus needs a signature sandwich (Chicago has Italian Beef, NYC has the Reuben (although Omaha, NE claims the Reuben too). Miami has the Cuban. What would be on a Columbus Sandwich? White Bread? American cheese? Or is the Bahamma Mama at Schmidt's the Columbus sandwich? I guess we would have to call it the Buckeye or the Archie (Griffin) or something like that.
Maybe we need to rent a bus and do a food round trip - Pittsburgh?

The most terrifying sammich I've ever had in Columbus was the fried Italian Sub at Eddie George. A friend and I ordered it just because we had to see what it was all about...
It was an entire sub dipped in tempura batter and deep fried. Surprisingly, deep fried hoagie roll is kinda good...for about 3 small bites. :D

Awesome... Ive actually had one off of this list. The Pastrami on Rye at Katz deli in SoHo. Really good pastrami!
Getting the sandwich is almost as much fun as eating the sandwich...if youve ever been there you'll know what I mean.

LOVE the Mother Mohawk.
Take a chicken salad sandwich and add roast beef......simple but stupidly delicious.
Another kudo to the Thurman Burger here along the same lines: take a retardely huge burger and add an entire ham-n-cheese sandwich to it.
Sounds wrong (and perhaps IS wrong) but sign me up for that program like...maybe....now......

Have to agree whole heartedly with these 2:

I've had Slyman's corned beef in Cleveland and can vouch for it's goodness. Honestly though, I'd put the corned beef at Danny's Deli next to Slyman's and even Carnegie Deli's versions. It's top notch.
