who watched it? I liked it, but found it a little hard to follow.

Boardwalk Empire*
I LOVED IT!! Love the characters and story. Can't wait to see more.

I loved it. Visually stunning.
Pilots are usually tough for shows that have a lot of characters and moving parts - lots of people to introduce. I remember hating the pilot episode of the Sopranos for this reason, I quickly learned my lesson :)
I appreciate that they didn't slow it down for the first one. The pace of it is what will keep me occupied for seasons to come.

maybe it was my haze after a long weekend of partying, but can someone explain to me why they shot the Italian guy at the end?

I think it was because he wasn't interested in participating in drugs and liquor running.

Seems like my Sunday nights have a new purpose (DVR/On Demand might work if I can resist the spoilers on the message board). Buscemi is kind of a funny lookin' guy, but he seems unable to do any wrong...

The Dispatch ran a piece on Saturday which gives the story overview and introduces the characters.

Anybody remember this movie?
(A Tree's Lounge shot glass image is supposed to appear)
I got one of these from CD101 @ the premiere, but sadly I've used it so much that the writing is now illegible.Posted 1 year ago # -

Historically I think they compressed the timing a bit, but the real-life person was killed and Al Capone's boss was considered behind it and for that reason. Capone took over Chicago in subsequent years. (A nice little detail was Capone lying about his service, btw.)
Like the show a lot. Looking forward to where they take it.

Really enjoyed last nights episode. I knew that hooker Jimmy took a shine too was going to go, but I didn't think it'd be like that! (she was pretty smokin.)
I loved that Nucky took it to Margaret - I saw that coming for sure.

Who's thinking what?
I can't believe Jimmy's wifes "kissing partner" ditched on her!
I love the faceless character!!
Can't believe Nucky resigned his brother!!
The liquor agent dude is OUT OF CONTROL.
Margaret is losing it.
ETC, I LOVE THIS SHOW!

ETC, I LOVE THIS SHOW!It's odd that in a show that has so much violence and gore, the scene that has disturbed me the most so far is the one from this past Sunday's episode with Nelson and the Baptism. Gaaaah!!!
I love this show so much. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself when the season is over. :)

We recently switched to Time Warner cable, and got three months free HBO out of the deal. I hadn't had HBO since they canceled John From Cincinnati a few years ago. I have to say that if Boardwalk Empire is the best they can do then the network has really dropped in quality from their heyday (The Wire, The Sopranos, Carnivale.) The best I can say about Boardwalk Empire is that it's better than True Blood and Big Love. I just don't find the characters or the story very interesting. It's technically great, i.e., the production values are among the best on TV, but that's pretty much base level for a HBO production.

I might finally get get caught up on Breaking Bad. But what else?
