A coworker asked me if I am going to "sulk since your guys lost the election." In response I told him Dems and Repubs are two branches of what is essentially one party.
Sure Dems made gains in '08 because of the economy and now in 2010 the reverse seems true.
One idea is that our country is grasping at partisan straws to think that voting Dem or Repub will solve much.
Perhaps our economic system will come further unraveled regardless of who we vote for, regardless of how far the political pendulum swings left (which is unlikely) or right (which is more likely).
I don't have a crystal ball, but what I am trying to prepare myself for (assuming it's possible to do that ) is further economic, political, and social disintegration in the decades ahead, due to our government's path toward insolvency, our nation's loss of manufacturing capacity, and our nation's unwillingness to come to terms with peak oil, climate disruption, and other resource constraints.
