Given the amount of discussion devoted to authentic Mexican cuisine on CU, it would be disingenuious of me not to clue yous in on an obscure dig I found today in Sandusky, Ohio called El Potrillo. It is literally minutes from Cedar Point- so if you plan on making a trek there before the summer concludes, please pay these guys a visit-- it's rivals with the most authentic Taco Truck and it has walls to eat within!
Unfortunately I have no pics to post, but nevertheless... I had an AMAZING Carnitas pladder with chunky, pulled and seasoned pork- not drenched in marinade but fresh off the grill. My wife and mother-in-law each had Tortas, Chicken and Asada respectively, and they made me second guess my experience with Junior's as having the best Torta I've tasted. All muy excellente!
And then there was their secret sauce... Every Mexican joint has it, most disappoint. This was the most unique sauce I've ever had. Pureed Jalepenos, Garlic, Onion, Lime-- CHILLED! OMG, LOL, ROFL (good food should make you laugh!). Unbelievable.
Anyway, while it is a trek, it is close to some key Ohio tourist traps (Cedar Point, Put In Bay... umm...). Or, like myself and many others, you may have family in the vacinity. Hit it up!
I had to post about it because it a) found accidentally, b) it actually was authentic, c) it was damn good.
