Someone mentioned this awhile ago, and after reading the thing in the
Dispatch this morning, I decided to go with it.
I have created a VERY NEW wiki for eating & shopping locally in columbus. It will be open-sourced so that anyone can add, edit, link, write, discussed, etc. if you are interested in contributing, please let me know and I will send an invitation to your email.

As I said, this is very, very new, and I have only created the layout and a few pages; I have listed a few restaurants/shops and the like but haven't added any content whatsoever. The idea will be that anyone can upload their photos of a location, thoughts on what to eat there, reviews, etc. etc. And you will be able to add your own faves.
When I have more time, I will enter in websites, location details, etc. I just wanted to get some thoughts on things to add and also invite others to contribute.
Skreened - I used your funny Eat me Ohio logo. If anyone would like to submit a logo, let me know.

how about this?
i've got a 1,000 vinyl stickers in this design we're giving out to pretty much every local biz in town as the first element of a long-term, city-wide campaign promoting awareness of the many benefits of buying locally.
buy local day/week to follow, etc. should be fun.
looking to work collaboratively on this with as many people and businesses as possible...

Stellar idea, Lisa. I've set up a couple of wikis for various collaborative efforts, and they're great. The only impediment that I've encountered is that people are often unwilling to put in the effort needed to learn to add content, especially if they're not computer geeks who are naturally inclined to experiment. Might be a good idea to devote a page to a beginner's wiki tutorial or something of the sort....

I like local restaurants... but I'm not so inclined to wiki.
Maybe I will be reborn one day as a computer geek.
Or maybe someone will invent an easy to understand wiki.
Or maybe even a easy to navigate message board. Sometimes I get lost.

Totally - if you want to put your logo we can do it; I know we talked about it for a few minutes @ Pecha Kuch, and I didn't want to cover the work someone else was already doing, but I thought I would just go ahead and work on it. It is of course a work in progress.
Where can I get some buy local stickers?! Also, do you have the sticker with the state of Ohio with the star in the middle? I saw something like that on the Jeni's ice cream door in the Short North.

If I can help in any way, count me in. This stuff really matters to me.
I've been thinking about writing a really tight essay detailing all the direct and collateral effects of Slow Food and focus on local economy. I notice it's really becoming a hot issue, and I'd like to get more into particulars. So if that'd be useful, let me know.
Or anything, I think I'm going to try to volunteer with Local Matters soon, as well as join Slow Food.

Well, it does occur to me that there's a saying about living by the sword.... :) But no worries. (Actually, that should be part of the Slow Food philosophy -- good, clean, fair food... and no worries.) I just figured you were running a wiki because you wanted it to be a collaborative thing.
Manatee, my wife Colleen runs the local Slow Food convivium; you (and anyone else interested) can drop her a line... oh, hell, how do I avoid webpage-crawling spambots? Let me see... ee vee ee enn tee ess at slowfoodcolumbus dot (it's not com it's org). :) She can give answers to specific questions and might be able to help with the essay you have in mind. The website is here and has plenty of additional info, including a membership link (it's handled at the level of the national organization, not locally).

If I'm not mistaken, I think the Jeni's Ohio/star logo is mainly for the cycling team they sponsor.
However, I do have pins with Ohio and a heart! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10262353
I can also get stickers made of that logo.

They've got that star/Ohio logo all over the store. It really is from a specific design firm just for that purpose, I believe. Charly, what say you?? I'm not super-qualified to hold forth on the topic. I do love that logo, though, it's very endearing IMO.
