Looking forward to the light display... Thinking about checking out some of the Nightlife there while I'm out. Any suggestions?

Shameless plug for where I work - Shadowbox, the sketch comedy and rock n' roll club. Currently doing our Holiday themed show "Holiday Hoopla." Runs Tues - Sun. Come check it out.

And I like Easton just fine. But I work there every day so I'm always excited to go other places in the city on my rare days off. :)

Jimmy, Shadowbox is the ONLY reason I come to Easton. Will you please hurry up and move downtown again?

Mostly indifferent. It's one of those places I end up because someone else is already going there or wants to meet someone to get something to eat, etc. I can't imagine ever initiating a trip to Easton, but, I'm essentially a non-consumer and have a strong aversion to shopping. The idea of going there to get drinks seems bizarre.
At the same time, I've met friends for dinner, a movie, gone out for coffee and dessert, had a few enjoyable meals out there and it didn't suck. It's the last place I think of when people ask what there is to do in Columbus, though.
I'd recommend seeing if anyone interesting is going to be at the comedy club.

umm martini park?

Fado?
If anyone has suggestions on where else I can go for good Irish bangers and mash, let me know. They also have some of the more reasonable drink prices it seems. At least for what I drink.
Overall it's kind of a meh thing. There are some good things, like Fado and :roll bike shop. But it's really just another mall. My biggest turn off with Easton (as well as Park Street and the AD) are the drink prices. Most of the local bars in Columbus you can do twice the harm to your liver on the same cash.
Other than that nothing too unique that you wouldn't find elsewhere. Except Shadowbox...

Agreed on the drink prices. I think the best you can do out there for your money is a $23/$24 bottle of red at one of the restaurants and that doesn't exactly have "par-tay" written all over it. Although, it is a mall, so, I guess that goes without saying.

Bring the comedy club with you!

I like going to Archiver's. It can be pretty hard to park out there sometimes though. I try to go at offpeak times.

Not a fan of Easton. Too many people.

Average in the pubs and local bars along High in SN and downtown tend to be $4-7.

I'll go for Trader Joe shopping but generally, no. The last time I was in Easton I overheard the following conversation:
Person A: Have you been here all day?
Person B: No, we spent the morning in Polaris. And THAT, I thought, sounded like hell: Polaris AND Easton. In one day. By choice.

I love Easton (and I love the Short North too BTW). I believe it is the best shopping center in America, well-planned, great architecture, world-class roster of tenants, pro-active marketing and management. It will be forever compared to the last of the great "mall-hicans" (sorry that was bad) namely Polaris Fashion Place which as my fave retail expert (Mom) told me when I first took her there said " it's pretty nice but it's just another mall". Thank you Mr. Wexner!

I have to say I appreciate what Easton does to draw in families. I know why they are doing it (spend spend spend) but they do provide some great entertainment for the youngins. The water park is cool in the summer, train is great year round (my four year old can kill an hour just watching that train) and the holiday decorations are fun. I was just there this weekend with her to see the huge Christmas tree.
I also like that I can park and walk to lots of stores. I despise Polaris because I have to hop in and out of my car between every store and there are no provisions for people who might actually want some exercise amid their consumerism.

hate it.

double thumbs down. Support mom and pop places not Adobe Gillas.

I'm kind of on both sides. I live really close to Easton, but rarely go there. It's not someplace I generally want to hang out at.
On the other hand, I think for a mall environment, it's pretty well done. Places like the funnybone and shadowbox are also definite draws for me. Different strokes for different folks. I think it has its place in the scheme of things.Posted 2 years ago #
