Happy Earth Week, Volunteers!
First, A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to everyone who participated in Earth Day Root Down 2012 in Goodale Park last Saturday morning. The weather held out, and we got a LOT of work done in the park. We mulched and weeded garden beds all over the park (not an easy task!), started renovation in the “Circle Bed”, swept tennis courts, and picked up a ton of litter. Volunteers helped with refreshments, check-in and tool organization, and we even had 2 volunteer photographers in the park to catch all of the action. Be on the lookout for photos, coming soon!
How many volunteers came out on Saturday?
117!!!
Yes! 117 volunteers came out last weekend to show Goodale Park some love. That translates to around 277 volunteer hours in Goodale Park in just 1 DAY. Last year’s total was 72 ---we blew it away!
The Friends of Goodale Park would like to extend a special THANKS to our many volunteer groups in attendance last Saturday. Your participation and cooperation proved that it really is all about community.
So who brought a volunteer group?
JP Morgan Chase PRIDE, Old Navy, Quantum Health, Stonewall Columbus, The LDS Church, PRIDE Gives United Way, Columbus Bar Association Green Initiative, LGBT Law Committee, ComFest, and Stone Village Church (until it poured rain…oh no!), just to name a few!
We are also extremely grateful to have had our worksite sponsored by Pattycake Bakery, bottled water donated by Giant Eagle on Neil Avenue, and a FREE LUNCH for ALL VOLUNTEERS from Park Street Cantina.
It DOES take a community to make a difference, and The Friends of Goodale Park are proud to be a part of YOUR community.
So what happens next?
We CELEBRATE!!!!!
