Did I miss something or did the Dispatch completely ignore Earth Day? I did see that goofy dude Blundo had a piece that was very good, but no locally written articles. The web site did run a wire story, how sad. Saw no coverage of last weekends workdays or of yesterday's events in Franklin Park. I did notice an article on the frontpage Sat. about an obsessive dude and his "perfect green lawn" oh the irony. What's the deal with the big D? What about the local broadcast media? Can someone who went to franklin park yesterday give a thumbnail sketch of how it went, # of folks etc.

Not Earth Day specific, but some pretty good green news regardless:

This is a little surprising. I spoke to a Dispatch photographer at the festival yesterday.

I appreciated the literature given out, the healthier green vendors, eco friendly products being pushed. Generally the atmosphere was nice. There were pedicabs pulling around folk, people eating Jeni's and Pattycakes, Beer, children playing, 2 bands at 2 different locations. Street performers and a sidewalk chalk artist.
I honestly thought it would be bigger with more vendors and more attendees in general. I'd say there were about 20 vendors/merchants and 200-300 people at one time. I'm not sure how many people attended the inside displays and exhibits as it seemed to be more than 500+ cars in the parking lot when I arrived.
Overall. I was pleased it seemed really community friendly, grassroots-esque. Nothing on the scale of any of Columbus' summer fests.

People read the dispatch?

People still celebrate Earth Day? With all the global warming BS that is spouted seemingly every day from the media, why should we pick one day to "focus" on the environment?

I went to the update2010 party and thought it was a great event. There was a lot of area so people were pretty spread out, even back to the community garden area. It was the first year at Franklin Park and I thought it was a good turnout for a first. To me, it had similar feel to Independent's Day on Gay.
I liked that Cocktails at the Conservatory waived the entry fee and we checked out the exhibits and patio areas.
Glad to see the pedal instead bike corral was well used. I recognized a CU avatar and said, "Are you on Columbus Underground"? A: "Yes" It was Andrew - Life on two Wheels - so nice to make the connection IRL. :)
The announcement about the projects and work accomplished was good, it gave a summary of the results.
It's the Biggest Earth Day effort in the world. Why wouldn't our local paper see a story in that?

10TV WBNS of the Dispatch/Wolfe Group was there for a while. They filmed the Peach District Flash Mob performance.

@Tenzo, I am repeating what Tad D said at the mike based on number of volunteer hours. It could be fuzzy math, so I can't defend the statement.
