Duran Duran - who knew? I'm holding out for the Richard Marx comeback tour myself
Had I known this would've been a great gift for my wife, she, like Enzo, would've married them. I was much more happy to go to the Police/Elvis Costello tour.

I went to this last night.
I walked into Bodega at 6:20 or so. A friend was all like "blah blah Duran Duran!" and I was like, "What the fuck you talking about?!" and she was like. "Duran Duran.!!" and I was clueless of what was going on. So another dude, said, "Hey want to go see Duran Duran tonight at the Scott?" And I was like "what?" He said they "got a bunch of free tickets and that they were leaving in 20 minutes".
I was like, "OK let me take my bike home and walk back and then we'll go." I went and unlocked my bike as another dude was asking me to pick him up some smokes at the DEF.
I walked back and we got like 9 people into a minivan and went to the Schott. We went into the NW rotunda and got our free tickets. The friend who gave them to us said she was given 300 tickets to give out. She had a fat stack too!
Went in saw the show, high carbon footprint.

Three black gentlemen were with us. I'd say it was as white and bald/balding as any Sporting event at OSU.

We went! It was fun. Dare I say I'm not the biggest Duran Duran fan? I somehow missed them growing up. The older stuff I could dig. The new stuff...eh. Too Justin Timb-alanded out for me. But it was a good time and it gave my man a chance to break out the white Sergio Valenti jacket from his 80s band project. :D And the green and red dude dancing laps around our section was fantastic!
What I really liked was how they set up the Schott, that half bowl arrangement is pretty cool, didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. We bought floor tickets the day before on eBay for about $40 a piece, and our seats were awesome, 14th row center.
I was wondering if the set up was due to poor sales over the tour and am sad to hear about the 300 tickets given away at the door to try to fill the stadium. But score! to those who got in free!

They're great live--saw them about 10 years ago at Polaris.
Those w/ free tickets were very lucky.

I think she may have only given us 15 of the tickets. I don't think she gave out the rest. I don't know. Its not my gig.

Ugh, even sadder. We were talking last night about how poorly publicized it was. We heard about it from some random dude at a bar. I didn't hear or see any advertisements about the show. However I'm not a mainstream radio listener/newspaper reader so I don't know if I would have seen them even if they were there.

When NIN played the Schott (maybe a month ago?) the place was barely a packed house (according to eyewitnesses). I wish Promowest or whomever would redirect some of these shows to the Newport. I miss going there for shows.
