Anyone else seen this film? I felt compelled to post about it because of how surprisingly different it was compared to my initial reactions upon seeing the trailers on TV. Drive definitely has been falsely marketed as the commercials made it look like some mainstream car/action flick, which turned me off, but it's absolutely the exact opposite. It has an extremely high rating on IMDb and that also peaked my curiosity.

The score for Drive is also worth mentioning and probably a download. It's a mixture of '80s synth pop and electronica. The retro pink typeface for the film's title and credits is another unique touch. I don't wanna give away too much of the film, but if you haven't seen Drive yet it's definitely worth a watch.

Thought it was excellent as well, and similarly surprised at what the movie was vs. what I expected it to be.

Haha... Coremodels, I had a feeling at least you have already seen it and kinda surprised it hasn't been mentioned by you or some of the other film buffs on here.

Breaking Bad and Mad Men fans will also love the cameo appearances by Bryan Cranston and Christina Hendricks.

Saw it opening weekend. Definitely a like if you're a fan of film noir, as it's VERY much in that vein. The directing, many of the long stylistic sequences, and sparse dialogue may not be for some. If you're expecting a typical action movie you may be very disappointed. My wife was a bit put off by some of the gruesome violence. I on the other hand really enjoyed the whole thing.

I think it may have been over-hyped a bit, but it's definitely a good movie, and a nice breath of fresh air in a time of tired remakes and mediocre romantic comedies/dramadies, every weekend.

I thought the hyper-violence was critical to the story, kind of like A History of Violence, it was part of the character development. I also totally dug the 80's style graphics and score btw, strange but great touch.

Also, loved the 80's vibe. The director craftily used just the right amount, without getting into pastiche/eye roll territory.

The damn theme song by one of my favorite artists, College, was stuck in my head for days. I didn't even really like it that much, but it just stuck and stayed in my subconscious.

There were a lot of shots that showed mirrors with reflections of the characters and such. Found that very interesting and is another one of those unique decisions by the director that adds to the minimalistic yet deep story.

And the mention of the "sparse dialogue," enjoyed that very much as well. The ADD generation of movies now fail to allow viewers to just observe and thoughtfully think about what is actually happening onscreen and what the story is truly about. Nice to see a film like Drive take the opposite and unconventional approach.
