I've never been a huge Al Gore fan, but I don't believe Hillary can win the country, and global warming/ environmental conservation is clearly the most important issue of our times.

Global Warming does not exist. I cannot believe these crooks con the uneducated into believing that it does for a vote.
I have never picketed for anything before, but the second Al Gore comes to town, I'm going to make a big sign that says "Al Gore - Turn Down Your Heat," and mill around like an anti-war protestor.
hes not going to run for president p.s.
No.

When I saw the subject, I thought that this was going to be a thread about Halloween themed beer party / zombie apocalypse. How disappointed I was reading the first post.

When did you get a degree in Climatology?
To demonstrate how ill-informed you are, there is essentially massive consensus that GW exists. The question in dispute - to be generous - is whether it is caused by humans.

Yes, although hopefully we can pretend that GW doesn't exist after January of 2009 . . . Oh, wait, you meant global warming

Here is an interesting article on scientific consensus that I think might apply here: NY Times Diet and Fat: A Severe Case of Mistaken Consensus

Difference - GW consensus is about observational data, not a theory.
Difference - Practice of medicine (eg in regards to fats) acts far more proactively for a variety of reasons, not the least liability. Lack of action (when action is pretty benign), even on a not fully resolved theory, can be fatal to a patient or cause a malpractice suit for not acting.
It is also pretty silly to pick one example of a consensus that was wrong and act as if that was significat. It is like looking at a lottery winner and claiming they were psyhic cause they won all the while ignoring they played daily for 20 yrs. To think properly, one would need to look at all the times there was a scientific consensus and what times it was wrong. If you are betting, it is pretty safe to go with the experts.

i love when people say this
however, i do always give people the benefit of the doubt
if someone says... global warming would be happening without human existance... then i can see some logic towards that
however... those that claim global warming is some big conspiracy.... rofl @ u

Um ... my first instinct is to say "wrong on both counts."
Hillary can win the country. She can win each and every state that Bush did, plus take enough from Florida, Ohio, Colorado, and Arizona to tip the scales in her favor. Florida or Ohio alone would do it. I think Colorado or Arizona would as well, though it might take both of those (haven't looked at the numbers that closely yet).
As to global warming ... I'd have trouble thinking of it as within the top ten priorities of our time, much less the top one. Iraq, Afghanistan, economic development, privacy rights, Social Security, Medicare, illegal immigration, primary and secondary education, and energy diversification are all higher priorities IMO.
we can always write him in as our presidential nominee
wouldn't that be insane? for him to win by write in?
obviously he is the best candidate for a democratic president... but i can see why he would not want anything to do with the democratic party. i mean, after they turned their back on him when he won the first time, i also want very little to do with the democratic party. even less with the republicans... but still.
i'm calling it now
the ex NY mayor will be our new president
if they can rig 2, they can rig 3

good point
except that you forgot something
a democrat will never win ohio or florida again
at least while the corruption reigns free
that combined with the fact that guilliani can probably beat hillary in NY
My ideal scenario puts Hillary against Fred Thompson in the most polarizing election possible. This makes it possible for Bloomberg to enter the race as an independant candidate with a legitimate shot at winning.
Of course, if he doesn't win, then we've got to deal with 4 years of Hillary or Thompson. Nevermind...it's not worth it.
a democrat will never win ohio or florida again
Ted Strickland LOL's @ you.
"Corruption" is not "reigning free" in Ohio elections.

What he said.
Losing Ohio in 2004 was not the result of corruption, but massive ineptitude on the part of the Ohio Dem party. Massive. I volunteered and I had to call/email them about 10 times before I got a response. Then I got an un-grammatical note from the chair - except it turned out to be someone using the chair's acct. I could go on, but suffice it to say that such ineffiency was easily the difference.
Contrast to 2006 where stuff ran like a well-oiled machine. A treat to work for.

I'm assuming you meant "every state that Kerry did". Perhaps you're right --I'm not always on top of what the public thinks --but are you factoring in all the people who definitely won't vote for a woman, plus all the people who wouldn't vote for a Clinton, plus all the people who wouldn't vote for her simply because she's Hillary? I mean, I don't like her, and I'm a liberal who's in favor of the idea of a female president.

That's the thinking that got us here in the first place. The environment is, always has been, and always will be a top priority for any society that has its priorities straight. Read Guns, Germs and Steel, and follow it up with Collapse...

"Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream." – Rush
"If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president. It's kind of a pipe dream, it's a personal fantasy of mine, but I don't think it's going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women." --Ann Coulter
"I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship. ... There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.'" --Bill O'Reilly
"And one of the things that -- that the -- the AIDS activists said regularly back then was, oh, this is only a matter of time before it spreads to the heterosexual community. It's only a matter of time.
And they used that as -- as one of the weapons to try to get people like Reagan to start talking about it from their standpoint. And of course it -- it hasn't. It -- it didn't, and it hasn't, other than in Africa, and in Africa it is -- it is being spread not just by-- it -- it -- it's promiscuity that -- that -- that spreads this, if you want to know the truth. It's promiscuity. But it -- it hasn't made that jump to the heterosexual community."

I can't believe there are people who consider themselves educated while thinking that global warming doesn't exist.
And while it is a well published fact that the human role in global warming is a small one, what harm is there in reducing the amount of pollutants released into our atmosphere?
Whoever thinks global warming doesn't exist can argue up and down as we all fry to death  :(
And yeah, you know you're also right about nation-state issues trumping global ones. Logical!!
