I heard from a friend a few weeks ago that it was closing, but hadn't bothered to follow up to see why that was. I assumed either the rent was too high at that location, competition to saturated with Dunkin, Brioso, Einstein, Caribou and others all within a block, or it was a part of their recent strategy to close underperforming stores from a few years back, which closed the Short North location among five others:

I guess anyone who works around Broad & High and still needs their Starbucks fix will be forced to walk an entire block east over to 88 E. Broad:
Not really surprised as everytime I seem to pass this location it looks pretty slow. Brioso/Dunkin/Einstein always seem to have more customers. Probably won't help to add cup of joe soon just a few blocks away. Though whenever I walk past the Starbucks over on 3rd/Broad seems to have a nice flow of customers.
I notice this when I'm headed to work/home and I usually take a walk most days at lunch time.
One thing that this Starbucks lacks compared to most other coffee shops in the area, is a street entrance. You actually have to go inside the One Columbus Center to then go inside the Starbucks.
Which sounds pretty minor and insignificant, but I think that can actually pose a barrier to some customers and make it feel like retail intentionally provided to people within the office building and not to people on the street. You see a Starbucks sign, but you don't see a door to go directly into the Starbucks.
