What type of restaurant is missing from Downtown more than any other? I know the options are getting better all the time, but it seems most of the choices are focused on quick, cheap lunch. Is there just no demand for more casual full service restaurants? If you could see one new restaurant downtown what would it be?

A 24/7 diner, preferably with booze.

I know some will find it ridonkulous, but a really good sports bar.
ETA: Even better, opened by a Columbus sports legend like Archie or Earle

A.I'm imagining spending money already ;)
An old school Columbus joint like the Clarmont should open 'Earle and Art's.'
There was a parlor on the ground floor of our hotel in Indy. Couldn't go in with Alec (totally unfair - I need someone to run my slips like in the good ole days!) , but they did have a desk outside with education materials. Alec now knows the proper use of 'trifecta.'

Clarmont or Ringside, etc. is exactly what I'm picturing too. Memorabilia, but NOT TACKY (that means you Hall of Fame Cafe), just actually cool, tasteful placement of real deal items (like personal photos). Awesome sammiches named after some of the more obscure legends (I don't want the Eddie George, rather have the Rex Kern). GREAT TVs for the game, but not dominated by it.
And of course, like your typical former boxer spots, the men themselves are there to tell the occasional war story from their days in the game.
You wanna bring the sports bar crowd downtown out of the burbs, the would go for that, I promise you.
And if I can fill out a betting slip while enjoying a draft from a frosty mug and listening to Earle regale me with stories of 2 a days even better!

I am with you. A man's sport's bar. Not douchebag wannabes or frat-housey.
And since you can't do it legal, I want bathroom attendants who run the books.
Fantasy league shit will get you a short, sweet introduction to one of the ex-boxers.
Fuck, we are getting old.

There is a severe lack of sushi downtown outside of Nida's in the North Market.

Just mentioned this, but Mediterranean is lacking. The Albanian establishments could easily serve Albanian dishes and draw tons more visitors simply by calling it "Mediterranean". I also want a real Spanish restaurant and Barrio is not even close to cutting it. I need to see raciones (like tapas, but bigger portions) of jamon serrano and patatas bravas on the menu.

Good Chinese takeout??
I only know 1 or two places in DT, and that Happy Dragon place is so terrible, I end up driving 20+ mins for a good Chinese take out meal.
I think DT and surrounding have a good selection of places to eat.

Something healthy like sushi would be awesome, they tried over by Quiznos. or smaller portions and prices would also be welcome. a sandwich that cost $10 and feeds 2 is a waste of food.
for dtown chinese I now go to HoToy, Thai Lotus, or Saigon Palace.

A Yakitori Bar would be awesome downtown or anywhere in the downtown vicinity actually.
