If I remember right, they were supposed to have some of the rooms done for that group, and are gradually taking larger groups/more people as the other rooms finish and the staff gets trained?
Although if it was ready for any guests to enter on the 15th it was just barely ready. Even today the entrance is a construction zone, and can you even pull into the garage entrance yet?

Hilton Columbus Downtown Opens to Visitors Today

The new 532-room Hilton Columbus Downtown hotel officially opened to guests today at 401 North High Street. The $140 million convention hotel features a large naturally lit atrium and was designed to attain LEED and Green Seal Certifications.

The new Hilton is open. I stopped in for a bourbon at their bar last night, but it was too late to try the restaurant. The place looks very nice.

First Look: The Hilton Downtown Columbus

The new 532-room Hilton Columbus Downtown hotel officially opened on October 19th, and has seen a flurry of activity in its inaugural weeks since then. It hosted this year’s CMH Fashion Week event, was ground zero for the local Democratic watch party on election night, and even accommodated President Obama during one of his many Columbus visits prior to his re-election victory.
