YouTubeIn searching for events like this in Columbus I see that the DMC was held in Columbus in 2006. Anything else like that go on in this town? Am itching to get in. Not to perform, just to get in.

There is a hip hop expo on the 27th. I don't have tons of info on it but BHB is the one that puts it on. I can't get to his regular site (http://www.bhb4u.com/) right now since I'm at work but his myspace site is http://www.myspace.com/bhb4u

Do you scratch, TurntableU?
I'm not aware of a true turntablist dj battle being held in Columbus in quite a while - there was the DMC as you mentioned and Guitar Center held a yearly battle, again that's no more. And then maybe something smaller by a local promoter? Outside of Columbus there were there Kool sponsored mix offs that were fun. Then there is Scribble Jam in Cinci..
I feel much of that culture of dj battling has died off, I'm not aware of young guys taking up the skill although my SO's 13yo cousin always likes to play on my ttables when he's in town, haha.
Battles and dying culture aside, lots of dj's in Columbus still scratch and juggle. I was just at Drastic's for a session the week before last - he can juggle like none other.

cool, I actually don't scratch, am interested as a fan, largely because my homies are into it & we run TurntableU.com. probably won't be bringing back the DMC
after throwing the third largest attended qualifier in the nation in 2006, they said they would help us out and lower the cost since we barely walked with any profit
however... the following year they wanted nearly double
needless to say, the DMC has since pretty much dissapeared nationwide... and for good reason
they were already on the decline in this nation, and that was just another nail in the coffinenough of my DMC rant though :)
ginsu is definitely a good person to keep track of
he helped me do a couple of smaller competitions years ago, and i would be surprised if he isn't still doing one here and therePosted 2 years ago # -
