Hmmm.
Looking through the text of Issue 3, it states 560 Nationwide, blvd.
The auditor has JAEGER COMMERCE PARK LP listed as the owner, which is an affiliate of Plaza Properties.
So it looks as though, technically, the gambling company hasn't purchase the property yet.
However, they may have an "option" to purchase agreement signed.
We can check the recorders page to see if anything has been filed.

If there is going to be a Casino in Columbus, I think something between Easton and the Airport might be a better location.
I am totally against the choice of West Nationwide on the Olentangy River. Bad Logistics and bad use of that piece of land, IMO.

They're filed with all lease to own arrangements which I'm not sure how it applies here, but I think what's important is that it means no one else can buy it.

Is there any news on the possibility of the General Assembly drafting legislation to let Columbus opt out?
If the Casino owners can "draft" legislation then we ought to be able to as well.
Who can we put citizen's pressure on in this situation?

Lakes Ohio Development LLC, a subsidiary of Lakes Entertainment entered an Operating Agreement with Rock Ohio Ventures I LLC and Rock Ohio Ventures II LLC to form Rock Ohio Ventures LLC. The newly formed company will engage in any activity to acquire, own, develop, mortgage, encumber, hypothecate, lease, sell, maintain, improve, alter, remodel, expand, manage, and otherwise operate and deal with part or all of the Project to develop casinos in Cleveland and Cincinnati.
Rock Ventures is a group led by Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Penn Ventures, LLC , a subsidiary of Penn National Gaming, Inc. Penn Ventures also entered into an agreement with Lakes through which it funded 10% of Penn’s costs of the Issue 3 referendum . Under the agreement Lakes has the option to a equity stake up to 10% in any casinos developed by Penn in Columbus and Toledo if it funds up to 10% of equity required for the development.

Thanks everybody! We're trying to do something effective and thoughtful.
I think one thing that's important is to start holding ALL politicians and would be politicos feet to the fire.
By everyone putting in their two cents it sends a message to politicians that they have to pay attention and follow.
I look forward to the day when Columbus politicians actually lead with vision, rather than wait on public opinion and follow like a bunch of chicken shits.
Thanks again and stay tuned. Hopefully this will go somewhere.

I really like Philadelphia's attitude about this. The casino operators may have picked up their licenses, but THE PEOPLE decided that they were going to give them so much hell that they'll never get one built. On top of that, they've forced the would-be operators to waste millions of dollars. THAT's the attitude we need to take with Penn National. We need to show them that they picked the wrong place, the wrong town and the wrong people to mess with!
