Just got my new Columbus Monthly, noted that Willow's column was missing, and Googled my way here to find confirmation of my suspicion that she had been fired. While I only check out CU sporadically, three months ago I posted here that I suspected Willows days at CM were numbered after the acquisition by the Dispatch. Aside from the casino issue, how could the Distort allow CM to keep someone that they not only fired before, but who also expressed (logical) disdain for Kasich and some other Republicans, no matter how gently.
I was hoping I was wrong, but I wasn't. King Wolfe has spoken. Long live the king of all local printed media.
To the person who said they hope Willow lands on her feet, I doubt one short column per month in CM could have been her primary source of income.
I notice that CM's website hasn't yet purged Willows articles, or -- more importantly -- articles critical of the Wolfes (especially the late iron-fisted John W Wolfe) or the Dispatch. Yet.
EDIT: Just noticed that the retooled CM website doesn't offer back issues for sale as the old one did. Hmmm. And while I can't swear to it, I thought they had previously had a mid-90's article about the "Death of a Titan" (JW Wolfe) that did not paint a pretty portrait. Maybe the next step is for some issues (or certain pages within those issues) to suddenly start disappearing from local libraries??
