The comments made in this article are basically why I have abandoned the Olentangy Bike Trail. As a runner I encountered cyclists, all spandexed-out pretending to be Lance, grazing by me at ~25mph. As a cyclist I would often encounter children riding tricycles, casual walkers... one time I saw this cute runner couple all laid out on the trail doing stretches that merited many funny looks. It is not as easy as it may seem to dodge an unpredictable person/dog as it may seem...
I live right by the trail close to North Broadway and my alley is now considered a "bike boulevard" and have witnessed a huge spike in traffic. Very encouraging too see the massive increase in use, but presents some conjestion problems. How bout we offer some alternatives? My first one:
I would encourage runners to tour the neighborhoods more, you would be amazed at what you see. Particularly, in Clintonville, if you are looking for a good smooth surface, use Colerain Ave- I love it!
