Thanks for posting this. Was really hoping to make it up this year, but I won't be able to (again). With the festival turning a profit for the first time last year (I think) hopefully it will be around for many more years so I'll get to go again.

Yeah, I think they have finally found a combination that can keep the festival running into the future.
I am a little disappointed that they have sacrificed some of the normal amount of house DJs; but it was done to open up some time to showcase some ambient music (new to the festival this year)...but that's just how things go.
The festival is always fun as long as the temperature is not in the 90's like it was last year....and even then it was great...you just had to be willing to spend some money on over-priced water to stay hydrated.
Plus, the afterparties are always amazing. I posted another thread for, what I consider, to be the big House afterparty. But, Derrick May always throws a BIG Techno party that runs until about 4am, all the clubs book big techno/progressive/trance/DnB acts at night....and there always seems to be a full-blown rave or two that bring out headliners in all genres.
It's kinda the "poor man's Miami". All the fun, a quarter of the money.

**If you check out this site don't let all the negative talk get you down...I hate to say it...but many of the local Detroit "purists" tend to project a lot of negativity....but they aren't a large enough population to actually affect how good of a time you will have if you go.**

DEFINITELY check out Claude Vonstroke... either Saturday during the day at the festival... or Saturday night @ the Ghostly/Spectral Party at the Masonic Temple ($12).

Full time-slot breakdowns are available for DEMF weekend.
Check out http://www.demf.com/schedule/ and click on the days across the top of the screen to check out the whole weekend.
Saturday night Main Stage is gonna be the dopest 6 hours of the festival.
6:00-8:00 King Britt

I must say that I am glad to NOT be attending the DEMF this year. foot blisters,$5 water with no lid, walking every inch of detroit, trainwrecks, 60 pound backpacks full of flyers, and shitty west side motels. The best thing to happen was an old columbus raver took a shit in a very slender brown paper bag on top of a parking garage and gave it the old heave ho off the 11th floor.

Only $3 dollar water, comfortable shoes, a swank hotel 1.5 blocks from the festival, and I'm planning on shitting in a paperbag and throwing it off a parking garage again this year.

call it what the fuck you want, but It's my honest thoughts on this yeqars festival. I have made my trips and if you call that hate than so be it, but lets compare ticket stubs and hotel keys sometime. I'm sure I have gone enough to show my respect to the DEMF crew.

Dude, settle down. It has to be physically and emotionally exhausting to carry around all this negativity all the time. Free yourself from the burden of hate; find inner peace; and be in harmony with those around you. It makes for a much simpler existance.
