Anyone hear anything about this? It's in an odd location...Very back of the pocket park between Cup O' Joe and Callender Cleaners and way in the back behind Terra Gallery. They built a bar and have a pretty big seating area. Seems like a pretty big build out going on.

I am a little disappointed as I sent Walker a note about this almost a month ago and he has not unearthed more details. :-)
Love the location and the build-out I saw look very nice. Exciting.

If I had a dollar for every email that went unanswered. Will keep pushing. Most people who are busy with opening businesses are slow to respond...
Either way, always excited about new places coming online! :D

Meh.
Some of the worst coffee I've had in Columbus.
Stereo *and* Judge Judy loudly at the same time do not make for a pleasant environment.

Met one of the owners today at the Short North Business Association monthly member meeting. Dane's is now open for business and the flyer the owner handed out included some amazing looking dessert items. Their specialty is crepes and Belgian waffles. Sounds like they are hoping to get lunch/brunch business as well as dessert-lovers. Will open at 11:00 and will be open later on Friday and Saturday nights, I think. Have peeked in the window and it looks very nice. Will be trying it this weekend and will report back!

I stopped in on Gallery Hop night. They were incredibly busy and looked like they were having first day open woes, but everyone was nice. I tried a strawberry and mango bubble tea. Not my favorite. It is more of the thick creamy kind with a bit of a fake strawberry taste. Not the kind that is more about tea with a light fruit flavor.
The desserts they were making were huge!

Loved the people working at Dane's, and it's a nice enough space, but my first experience was not positive.
It is early days, though...

We visited last week during Gallery Hop as well. Worst service I've experienced in a long time. I really want to like this place, I LOVE waffles & crepes and I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as they were crazy busy and newly open, I totally get that, but that was the most disorganized cluster @#$% I've ever seen. After patiently waiting 20 minutes at our table for someone to even acknowledge us, I finally went up to the counter and placed our order, table or counter, no consistency, no one knew who's order belonged to who. After watching the entire staff, no one was responsible for just one thing, everyone just ran around-someone would take an order at a table, then leave it on the counter and forget about it and run over and cook someone else's crepe, then ring someone totally separate up at the register, there was no follow through on any of the orders placed. One person at the waffle & crepe station, a person on register, a few people taking orders at tables, that would have solved so many problems. They had none of that.
We continued to sit and watched 4 other tables either not get their order, or get it totally wrong. We waited patiently exactly 1 hr to get a crepe and a waffle with raspberry drizzle.. I watched as my waffle sat on the counter for 30 of those minutes as no one bothered to finish the order, and then no one knew where the waffle belonged, 3 or 4 different people worked on the one simple order. Finally we gave up. They were apologetic, and again I understand working out the kinks and finding your groove, but it was like watching a really bad train wreck. I hope they didn't scare off too many customers. They've got a lot of work ahead of them if they hope to survive the Winter season.

I went to Dane's last Thursday night and had a great time. I wasn't hungry enough for a waffle so I had the Rasppy, the crepe with Johnson's raspberry ice cream, fresh raspberries and chocolate curls. It was very good, I will order that again. A friend got a sundae with hazelnut ice cream with extra nuts, etc. and that was excellent. Another friend got a crepe with strawberries, bananas and caramel sauce.
Service was excellent because we were the only ones there at 9:30 on Thursday night and I will have to go back again to get a waffle with toppings.
