It's that good. It's that good that Glenn Close is in a TV show. It's that good that the premiere on a second rate network was commercial free.

This is just a fantastic show, hope SOMEONE is watching it other than me. I normally don't go down the twists and turns road because they seem contrived and predictable more often than not.
this show is the exception
And Glenn Close is brilliant...as is Ted Danson surprisingly. This has SERIOUS Emmy written all over it.
Can't believe how good this show is. Just to get you interested if possible, here's the scenario:
Scene 1, Episode 1: Rose Byrne bursts out of an apartment wearing a nightgown and covered in blood.
Scene 2, Episode 2: Flashback to Rose Byrne interviewing for a high powered legal job a few weeks before.
The balance of the show has been 90% flashback, explaining how Ellen Parsons (Byrne) got from taking an interview with the ultra high powered litigator Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) in the midst of a billion dollar lawsuit against powerbroker Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson). And the other 10% being told from her sitting in an interrogation room after all the events.
The good guys aren't good, the bad guys aren't all bad, the intrigue and plot twists are brilliant and not just done for the "OH MY!" moment, but actually make sense.
The performances, writing, plot, characters, all of it are absolutely top notch.
When is it on?
Tuesday nights at 10 on FX. I think it's like 80% of the way through the season though, so waiting for a marathon or the replays off season would be the best bet.
I really expected it to be overrated. If it is really "that good" I'll get on watching it.

I'm personally totally taken with the show Daz, much the same way I feel about Rescue Me.
Show is wrapping up, and I can honestly say I have no idea what the conclusion will be. Truly a great drama, IMO, and I'd highly recommend any non-watchers pick up the DVD or re-runs.
Why don't we have a DAMAGES party?
Have you been watching it E??? I keep waiting for someone to say they're watching it other than me LOL!
I have a friend that will not take calls during the show because it is SO GOOD.
As much as I want to know how this all plays out, I don't want it to end!!
The ONLY good part about it ending is that the next week Nip/Tuck starts back up!
Core, just curious, did you watch much TV before TiVo/DVR came along?
Oh yeah, and Damages finale party sounds good! Do y'all know of any bars here that do that? My neighborhood hangout back in Dallas showed Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me on all the TV's when they were on (I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing Damages too) and it would be so quiet in there you could hear a pin drop. Commercial break - the typical bar noise would start again, show back on - dead silence. When non-regulars would come in, they would actually get shushed if they talked loud enough to interfere with people's enjoyment. Hillarious!!
I probably had a half dozen shows I watched prior to DVR...it's definitely changed my downtime :)
Agreed, I'm a total insomniac so I would always find myself at the mercy of HBO, Showtime, etc. for entertainment. Now I get to watch all the stuff everyone else watches, I just do it at 3am :) I also think when the TV norm moved from sticoms to 1-hr dramas I got more interested.
FX is going to show all previously aired episodes (I believe there has been 12 since the finale is next week) THIS Saturday, starting at 8am. For anyone who hasn't seen this show, get that DVR going, it's excellent!!
agreed, and I never trusted that old man lawyer from the get go!!! ;)

ACK!!! I'm a week behind!! *pretend I didn't see that*
If you get one season DVD of the new shows, make it this one. Almost played out like a fantastic mini-series. Right until the closing credits you wondered who the good guys were, who the bad guys were, who knew what and when. The ruthlessness is off the charts displayed by virtually everyone in the entire show. Additionally, the language and violence filters of FX being so much lighter let the show air like an HBO series...and of that level of quality.
GET THIS SHOW!
p.s. I had really wondered how they'd set up season two...well let's just say they did a helluva job doing just taht!!!
This was great. I too was wondering how a 2nd season would be possible, and if it was even the intent. This would be a good one to watch all the way through again when the DVD's come out.
Oh yeah, and that scene with Patty in the adirondack chair basically losing it will haunt my sleep for awhile. Dang she is so good at looking completely evil!!

NEW YORK - Even after its season finale last month, "Damages" left viewers in suspense: Would this crafty legal thriller be renewed?
Fans were rewarded with good news Monday: The FX network announced it will bring the freshman series back for not one, but two more 13-episode seasons. Glenn Close, who stars as high-stakes litigator Patty Hewes, as well as Rose Byrne and Tate Donovan are signed to return as series regulars.
