I'm back from a break on my blog, West Side Story. I expect to write more about small business in the coming weeks. My most recent post is about the new Handy Bikes USA shop on West Broad Street. I'd love to hear what CU readers find interesting about the West Side, and the Hilltop in particular. I'm especially interested in hearing what folks in other parts of town would like to know about the West Side.

Nice write up on the new Handy Bikes. I think it is a good fit for the West Side. A lot of my friends who live in the area have been hoping for a shop like this for quite awhile. It was definitely a niche that needed to be filled.
I have not had a chance to look through your whole blog, but I was wondering if you knew when they were going to connect the west side to the bike path along the river in grandview (lower scioto greenway)? I had heard there was a bridge in the works.

A new bridge is now under construction. The first ever bikeway project in the west sideâ€â€Scioto Hilltop Connector bridge. This bridge will span the Scioto from McKinley Ave. to the existing trail from Grandview Ave. to Riversedge. Actually, there’s a ton of projects in the next two years in the near west side/Grandview areas. I attached a powerpoint slide rather than try to write down all of this. In short, we will have seamless connectivity from Harrison West to Hilltop, from Upper Arlington to downtown. Long time coming, lots o’ planning, coaxing, discussion.

I believe a contract has been awarded for the "Hilltop Connector," a bicycle and pedestrian bridge across the Scioto River, connecting the Scioto Trail on the north and the Hilltop area to the south. It's a needed and sensible addition for recreation and mobility for West Siders. It has some limitations. For example, who would feel safe riding home that way at night? Not me. Thanks for the suggestion. I'd like to write about it close to the time of completion.

Will this connect the Lucas Sullivant trail past Rhodes Park? This is an awesome trail.
