i noticed on the ride to school this morning that caribou coffee and lave have both vacated their spaces. what's so wrong with SCG that it can't sustain these businesses? though i am loathe to be at a deer hunter associated sports bar... i'll be there.

My understanding is that the rent in the Gateway is pretty steep. That, and I'm sure not all businesses are prepared for the natural Summer slowdown that comes with opening up a location that close to a major university campus.
For more specific theories (read: guesses), perhaps Caribou couldn't stand out with Panera right there, and Starbucks (and many other coffee shops) just a few blocks away?
And Lave, well - I wanted to like that place, but it struck me as really expensive even when compared to other specialty bath/soap stores like it.

That is a real bummer about Lave. I thought some of her items were really cool. :(

So... how about that happy hour, huh?
:P

I haven't been to the Gateway complex in a year, and I have to admit I'm a little curious to see a sports bar dedicated to a single athlete. Sounds interesting.

Man, I can't wait to drink beer/mixed drinks at this happy hour. I'm gonna miss those fruity martini's at Bar 23 though. And of course Walker gets a happy hour outside the short north/park street area, when I'll be living in the short north. I'll let it slide this once Walker. JUST THIS ONCE. We should totally combine one of these with ladies 80's night at Skully's. Have the happy hour out on the back patio until 9, then party it up!

We've done quite a few happy hours outside the Short North area. Several Downtown, German Village, etc.
And our happy hours aren't always on Thursdays. They're sometimes on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, just to change it up for the folks who have specific weekly obligations on certain days.

Yes the German Village one was fun! You know what you should do? A mixer of sorts. Find another Columbus forum or organization we could meet up with. That would be fun.
Oh, and lets have a happy hour at a strip club. Also fun. I mean, we want to help local businesses, right?

Not unless they have a PATIO in there. ;)

Nobody puts baby in a corner.
This should be a fun happy hour! Maybe we can then find some karaoke! HA HA

Looks like the weather's going to be nice for us on Thursday. Not too hot. No rain. Just right for the patio. :D

Sadly, I won't be making this one. My wisdom teeth are coming out that day and I will be a little sore and puffy-faced. :(

Campus gateway has a giant garage behind it...I'll look up which two streets you can access from. It used to just be a buck for about a bazillion hours.
