I would really like to lead our next ride through the west end of Columbus. We've done rides now through the Near East, Clintonville, SN/VV/IV/WP/UD, Westerville, Linden-figured I need to show some love to our neighbors across the river.
Anyone have some suggestions for roads in and around that area? With a decent size group there is some decent visibility and safety in numbers which helps a bit.

Clockwise or counter? Either way, I would not dare do this route on my own. I say that as someone who takes the lane on High all the time. Looks good to me. Can it be on the weekend or Friday night so we can maybe stop off at a bar afterward? Glenn Avenue Grill (no grill, all bar) gets my vote.

I don't see anything wrong with that route. nice job covering a lot of the west side.
I have one suggestion on you're route Is be careful right at the intersection that is Demorest, Campchase rd, and Letchworth. They all 3 spill into the one road taking you out to West Broad and the stop signs and yield signs tend to toss some drivers off. looks cool.

Going clockwise. I also have a second rough idea going east into German village and back on Broad.
I know the roads are kind of rough traffic wise. We did Cleveland yesterday for a good portion of the ride. We didn't have any issues. I think with a group setting it's a bit easier to use some of these roads. I'll probably drive the route a few times to get a better idea and keep an eye out for some of the rougher intersections.
Weekend for sure. Probably mid-afternoon again.

I really like the 1 and 2 the most. I would love to have a large bike ride come to my end of town the Hilltop Traffic is not as bad as some make it out to be. The peak traffic times are early in the morning 8am, After work 5:30pm, and Friday nights after dark.
On the 3rd one you have to watch Climb Rd. Is a one way going toward 3c. I am not 100% sure you can get all the way through.

One of the reasons I like doing these on the weekends is the typically lighter traffic. Still enough to at least give people a sense of riding in moderate traffic.
We get enough diversity of new and veterans alike that it becomes a challlenge to find a route to accomadate the newer folks and still appeal to the others.
I don't know how large we will get. Once I get the details hammered out, I'll probably try to do a bit more advertising-through up some flyers at the bike shops, coffee shops and other spots around town.

I've riden all of these routes. This is my area. My only comments to keep in mind;
*W.5th to and down Mckinley before the turn off is an intimidating area for Elevation/road reasons.
*Clime road has an increase in traffic as Briggs just north is underconstruction and down to only one lane and only in one direction.
Grandview hill really! (are you trying to kill me :-)
Looks good as long as the above is considered for anyone new/newbie.
I'm in if on a weekend.

Any good alternatives to West 5th/McKinley coming out of Grandview?
(I am liking that 2nd choice-Westgate-Franklinton-Downtown-VV/HW-Grandview-Westgate)

The second choice looks good. I've updated the map accordingly.
How is June 20 @ 1:30 PM? It's a Saturday. Keeping consistent with the ride in March. I think I'll try the third Saturday of every month around the same time from here on out.

McKinley Ave needs bike lanes or a separate multi-use path yesterday. The speed limit on that stretch is 50 mph which is not bike friendly and even worse I routinely see cars going FAR above that (I'd estimate ~80 mph at least a few times per day). Please be careful out there!
My recommendation might be to turn right from Hauge Ave to Harrison Rd instead of going up to Fisher. Then you turn right on McKinley (this stretch is 35 mph) and go east to meet up with Grandview Ave. Turn left at Goodale and ascend more gradually on Broadview instead of the steep hill on Grandview.

Just for clarification, the route will be going counter clockwise-east through downtown, north to VV/Grandview then returning South and West back to Hilltop/Westgate.
Harrison Road might be the better option as you suggested, AK. I've marked the alternative on the map in blue if anyone cares to comment.
