Don't they have a new conditioning coach coming on? I'd like to see them play strong all season. It seemed like they ran down quite a bit at the end of the 09 season

I'm excited but still not a fan of Warzycha. I blame the lackluster end to last year's season on him. He made some questionable calls, like keeping Schelotto on the bench for the RSL game 1 of the playoffs.

WHEN is the complete schedule going to be posted??? I can't believe MLS doesn't have at least the first six weeks up by now.

It either tired the team out or didn't allow them to get into a squad rotation.

I’m cautiously optimistic on the upcoming season, it really seems like a transition year so it’s hard to predict how it will turn out. Moreno is already gone, Schelotto, Hejduk and Oughton are all winding down their playing careers and will all inevitably miss time. After the season (or possibly after the World Cup depending on performance) Marshall and Rodgers will be off to Europe and we’ll lose several players as the league again expands. However, we have several up and coming players, a fantastic coach (I like bold moves, especially in this league), good team chemistry and the best home field advantage in the league.
I’m cannot wait to see GBS take the Crew’s first corner of the year with Marshall, Lenhart, Brunner and Dike all waiting… MASSIVE.Posted 2 years ago # -
The full schedule comes out in less than an hour. There are some nice roadtrips going east this year, it's just a matter of when.

Great story on Guille in the dispatch today:
Other MLS teams might have been willing to trade for the rights to Schelotto and perhaps pay him more. And as is usually the case in the offseason, Argentine clubs were vying for his services.
Just love reading stuff like this. Also he confirmed that Boca had offered him the coaching job thereSo why would a player of Schelotto's stature -- 18 championships and an icon in Buenos Aires -- agree to such a deal?
"I come back because I like Columbus," he said. "We needed to fix some numbers on the new contract, but most important for me was to (stay) in Columbus. The United States is beautiful, but I love Columbus. It is best."
Schelotto's wife, Matilde, loves living here. So do his three young sons.
"They will probably come back early this year because they want to see some snow," Schelotto said.If they build a snowman, they will do so in peace. Fans and media do not hound Schelotto here as they do in Argentina, where organized crime, fanaticism and financial instability have made the country's first division a chaotic place to work.
"Columbus is beautiful and clean," said Schelotto, who is well-liked by his teammates for his humble and friendly manner and even had teammates Steven Lenhart and Robbie Rogers visit his Argentina home.
"And quiet. You can do everything without problems. When you are in Argentina, when you are at your house and you want to go to another place, you need to think about a lot of things. Here, it is very simple."
He said that after he re-signed with the Crew, he was offered the coaching job for Boca Juniors, the Argentine team for which he played for 11 years. In Argentina, coaching Boca Juniors is akin to managing the New York Yankees.
But Schelotto says he has no interest in coaching now, because he feels he can still play at a high level.
"I know in the future I want to be a coach," he said. "I know this is possible. I don't know when. But now I am a player.
"For me, I know every year when starting, I think it might be the last year. I am 36 years old and 37 in May. But for me, the best thing right now is MLS. I am relaxed. I understand the game. In Argentina, it is crazy."

Awesome post from Jason Garey today on Zayner's blog, mostly for this bit:
Today we caught 6 or 7 large mouth bass. We had a good time (Steve and Doctor J). We were fishing right by the fields where we train. It was awesome because we were watching TFC play in a scrimmage against UCF (college team) and they were losing to them until the final minute. They scored and you would have thought they won the MLS Cup Championship. Steve and I looked at each other and were wondering why they were freaking out about scoring against a college team that they just tied.
Occasionally I'll almost get to the point of feeling bad for TFC then I read something like that and remember how much I enjoy their misery.Posted 2 years ago # -

I believe the proper term is LOLWUT?
