Just drove by Cotters restaurant and all their outside furniture is gone. Looks like they may have finally closed up shop. (I can't imagine that they haven't been struggling for a long time) Does anyone know what the story is?

Lights out for Cotters in Arena District
Business First - by Matt Burns
Date: Thursday, July 28, 2011After a brief shutdown last fall amid tax troubles with the state, the latest closure of Cotters Restaurant in the Arena District is more than temporary. The restaurant as of Thursday was shut down and cleared out, with furniture and other equipment removed. Karen Davis, a spokeswoman for landlord Nationwide Arena, said the restaurant had given notice it was vacating.

How many seats do they have in there? It's a tough spot... the general crowd is more casual dining, and I'm betting for the number of tables vs cost of space, whoever'd have to do a major bar business, or huge turn & burn to make ends meet.
What would be good there? Something Skillet-esque...

Tim Hortons skating into Cotters' former Nationwide Arena space

Nationwide ArenabizWatch is swapping white tablecloths for powdered doughnuts in its marquee restaurant space.
Tim Hortons Inc.bizWatch will fill the 2,000- square-foot space by the arena’s west entrance, a spot that has seen two formal restaurants come and go – CottersbizWatch , which closed July 28, and original tenant Black & Blue Bistro & Bar. The chain of coffee-and-doughnut shops will put in one of its Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shops, with an expanded menu and a cafe atmosphere.
The arena site will become the second high-profile downtown reclamation project for the suburban Toronto company, which bases its U.S. operation in Dublin. Tim Hortons took over the former Dunkin’ Donuts storefront at Broad and High streets in March.

You know this deal was in the works for awhile....

As an Arena District working, this is actually some welcome news. A high price point is the wrong thing for that space - most of the folks lunching around here don't want to spend that kind of time or money, and more coffee options = more better in my world. See also breakfast sammiches.

I'm suprised Starbucks doesn't have something in their lease agreement that wouldn't allow a competitor to lease another spot in the same building.

I'm actually surprised that more of the Arena District restaurants, namely around the movie theater, haven't gone under. The professional lunch crowd must help, maybe Huntington Park too, but it's just not as much a draw as the East side of the Arena. It's nice to see the Flats on Vine fill in space, even the new Hilton. Be nice if the Nationwide Arena parking lot (West side) could more effectively use that space to make a more continuous, integrated experience like on the opposite side of the building (mutli-story or underground garage or how about a taco truck staging area - would be a very Portlandesque use of parking lots).

Well, it sounds like yogurt more than ice cream will be offered. ;)
Personally, I don't mind Cold Stone. The portions are a little insane, but the flavors aren't bad.
