COTA will be running 175 extra buses on 22 local and express routes through midnight on Friday the 2nd. I've taken the bus to RW&B many times before and it's great! The police will give buses priority over gridlocked cars. It sure beats idling for an hour inside a downtown parking garage.

I plan on using cota. I thought last year they charged a flat $2 or something, but looks like this year it is the regular $1.75?

Will there be a bike corral? At this point Pedal Instead won't be there. It's on my list to contact and contract with next year, though.
We're kind of shaking some things up this year, working to get better organized and publicize ourselves more to attract both sponsorships and event organizers so we can be available in more places.

I used to do the bus but it really is a pain in the ass sitting in traffic on high st and standing on a crowded bus compared to driving if you can do it right. The last few years ive driven downtown, had no problem getting parked at meters in the discovery district area (roughly anywhere east of 4th) for free, and then driving right out 71 or cleveland afterward back north. Super easy.

Biking is definitely the way to go for Red, White and Boom. There are some sweet spots to watch the fireworks along the bike path downtown if you can find them.

What would help us are festival attendees themselves contacting both the event organizers and us about where they would like to see Pedal Instead. Contacting the organizers is a bit more genuine and shows a demand rather than us simply shooting a form letter out and contacting us will help prioritize where we should be putting equipment and volunteers.

We rode COTA back and forth last night.
The way to RW&B (around 7pm or so) was great. Laid back crowd. Bus was a little slow going, but the A/C was nicer than walking.
The way home was pretty much the worst bus ride of my life. But we kind of anticipated it, so it met our expectations I guess. ;) The bus was standing-room only, the A/C was either not working or wasn't helping, lots of really noisy teenagers, and a guy who literally smelled as if he had been working on a pig farm all day and insisted on shoving through everyone to sit in the back. I actually felt kind of bad for the guy because half the people on the bus were yelling and making fun of him. Took about 30 minutes to get home, which was probably faster than walking and carrying two kids.
But yeah... inconveniences aside, it was still less stressful than trying to drive in that madness. ;)

I am completely disappointed. I waited for 45 minutes at one bus stop before walking to the next one. By the time I got to the next stop, three buses passed me and I missed them all. I ran after them to no avail.
A friendly couple in a pick-up witnessed my misfortune and helped me chase the bus; which I caught up with at a red light, only for the bus driver to rudely refuse to open the door. The couple was friendly enough to drive me to my destination.
I'm sorry I advocated taking the bus, I'm biking in from now on!

Biking worked well last night, just rode the trail with some neighbors down to Northbank Park, great view, and got back home about 15 minutes after the fireworks were over:)
