Maybe its time Columbus stops using my tax dollars to subsidize a money losing bus system. Sell it to a private firm and make the public bus system a for profit business. My employer did not give me a good raise this year, nor did they give me good benefits but hey I got a job and pay my taxes. Live with it, quit crying and stop digging in my pockets for more money and better benefits. I personally would fire you all and hire new folks who would drive for less.A for profit bus system isn't realistic. There's not a system in the country that pays for itself with fare revenue, even NYC, Chicago, etc.

WE DID NOT GET A GOOD RAISE NOR DID DID WE GET A GOOD BENEFIT PACKAGE.So you didn't get a raise and you fucked over ten's of thousands of COTA riders in the process.
What's your point again?

WE DID NOT GET A GOOD RAISE NOR DID DID WE GET A GOOD BENEFIT PACKAGE.So, even at 30 cents/hour, if you work 40 hours per week, that's an extra $624/year in your pocket for doing absolutely no more than you've done before. You also have paid time off, benefits, and a fully vested pension/retirement plan.
All pretty much funded from taxpayer dollars.
How much did you want? What would it have taken for you not to strike and leave all those people stranded, with no alternate means of transportation? What would make you happy?

Nice to see how much the union values maintaining a public service.

Your caps lock babble is really difficult to decipher.
Is "call a cab for god sake! use a bike, you have your feet" the official COTA statement?
Also, that you didn't strike but you did but you didn't?

I don't think this is helping.

I'd say that qualifies.
And, not everyone is getting extra money this year like you to blow on more expensive modes of transportation when walking or cycling aren't an option.
Again, I'd say that qualifies.

To be fair here, I don't think this COTADriver4U person represents the union as a whole. It seems pretty apparent, to me at least, that there are some selfish drivers who simply think that they deserve more, and they have no qualms about screwing other people over in order to get what they feel they're entitled to.
You find that attitude in every industry.
But, I don't think that line of thinking represents the union mentality as a whole. At least I hope it doesn't.

Just an observation: It seems that there are some people who have little use for public transit (they don't ride it and they resist funding it) who have gotten awfully upset when it went missing for two whole days and they are ready to hang those that they consider to be responsible from the nearest tree for undermining the public good.

Look, I wasn't trying to get into a battle with anyone. I will not apologize for fighting for something that I believe in. ( I believe everyone should)! I do feel bad for the customers that this affected.
Do I blame myself.... NO.. When cota was in the red we gave up to cota (dummies) but we did! Now that cota is doing good, They are not willing to give back. They want to cont. to take. We just wanted a fair contract.
Yes, You all feel you were treated unfair, I get this... But I (Drivers) Did not do this by striking.
Please, Try and see our side as well
I do love my job, Love my customers as well! But I have a family as probably as you do and want to be treated fair and would fight for that reasonPosted 10 months ago # -

eta..
I don't ride the bus, but appreciate it being there if I ever did need to. I live in an area where there are lots of bus stops where I see people using the public service daily and it pisses me off to see these selfish greedy COTA drivers screw these people over. Especially when it's 100° outside and around a holiday.
To see these drivers continue to feel miffed by these negotiations which they voted to accept is also an embarrassment, fuck them hard.

Especially for those that rely on it, it provides a vital service to the community to which there are few viable alternatives. Without evidence of corporate-wide incompetence or mismanagement, I'll most likely continue to support it in the future.
And while I'm against hangings, undermining the public good, even for 3 whole days, is, however, a pretty good reason to be awfully upset. Don't you think?

You'd hope. Seems to fall right in line with the videos from the Dispatch, though.I think the videos, which represent 15-30 picketing people out of a membership of 500, and the first vote for the now current contract show that not everyone thinks the same. Also look at ATOC's post in this thread. I am assuming much of the COTA people are just happy to be moving on from this.

It's directly in my interest to keep COTA running.

You are right, At the beginning the strike ( fighting for what you believe in) sounded good) but After 2nd proposal and the mayor speaking telling us (It was the last one ) We had to re- vote.. With jobs the way it is, Gas prices, food prices etc .. rent, bills etc we can go on ... continuing the fight even though good cause we could not afford to do it.. Yes very happy just to get back to work. Take our bumps & brusises (contract) and go on.
