This press release was posted as a reader comment on our website Wednesday, too. Go figure.
I had no idea that takeamericaback2010.com was run by Wayne Lewis, publisher of 614 Magazine and UWeekly.
Do the advertisers of UWeekly and 614 Magazine know where their money is going? I respect his views and sometimes agree, but this seems to be about money. In one hand Lewis sells "takebackamerica bracelets" to conservatives and in the other he panders to Columbus' liberal arts scene to garner advertising support for his magazine. What gives?
From Uweekly's Wayne's site: Global Warming is a myth
I am not happy that my tax dollars are being used to line the pockets of a political group. Experience Columbus should not be endorsing a restaurant week that is owned by a takeamericaback2010.com.
I feel like there is a disconnect here between local culture and national issues. I mean, you're supporting evilish things anytime you take almost any action in the economy, but especially when you support national/international business over local business. And even then, you'll probably find that many small business owners are still fairly conservative. If anything, I think Wayne has done a good job of separating his politics from his business, like any other wise businessman. there's nothing shady about it.
Please note, I disagree with absolutely everything he says on his website, and I think what he proposes is completely preposterous and dangerous as an idea as it is essentially a form of civic irresponsibility unless he is also proposing serious cuts to the wasteful spending of our extravagant military. Lets engage in a discussion of real ideas, before we just tear down a fairly decent new local magazine.
To me it seems 614 Magazine is operating in a cloak and dagger fashion. There are other magazine options in our city, you should consider.
Once you come down from the drugs, I hope you'll realize how desperate and transparent the tone of all this posting appears.
