During the opening for this show... we will be creating an artist's gameshow, where people attending are allowed to play games and win prizes.
Spin the Big wheel. Guess grocery prices. Choose a curtain. Play PliNko!
Come on Down explores the riotous, stylistic nature of game shows through the work of Adam Brouillette, Steve Seeley, Clinton Reno, James, and Dan Gerdeman. From literal interpretations to subtle aesthetics, the artwork in this show highlights the influence of game shows on contemporary art aesthetics. Bright colors, bold exclamations, product promotion, glittery surfaces, and crazed nature area all on display. The opening reception will include audience participation in games to win prizes and art.

Based on my knowledge of Adam, Dan, and Steve's work... this show will be the shit- awesome.
I'll definitely be there. It'll be the place to be for Gallery Hop in August, but on the 2nd (Thursday) they'll be playing the games, so go then too. Sadly, I will be out of town for that, but I'll see you there on gallery hop night.

I was really excited to read about this!!
I don't know much about James or Clinton Reno, but I definitely agree with Mike about Adam, Dan and Steve's work. Very awesome.
I actually have a few of Steve's pieces in my apartment that I traded him for when he was a TA for my lithography class at OSU in 2003 (p.s. hardest class I've ever taken!!)
so I'm very excited to see his new stuff. More bunnies and robots maybe?
So, which night should we come? opening night or gallery hop night??
so many choices!!

The shamless self promo level on this show has reached a major climax. This must meen that even Adam is excited about his work. I take this as a good sign and I must go to to both events now. Kudos for a gr8 show concept.

Yeah you do Amy- you might know Clinton's work that is...He does all of the posters for the North Market, although he's better known for his rock-n-roll ones. He hand-screens them all. http://www.galaxyreno.com/

Agreed!
Mahan and sometimes sherrie have these interesting themed shows each month. Other than that it really seems like there is no concept to most of the hanging in other hop galleries.

In November at the OAL I will be doing another "themed" show based on the ridiculousness of parties..... that should be fun too.

This is a FUN FUN FUN show! If you didn't make it last night try to get there on Saturday for the Gallery Hop. Adam did an amazing job organizing this and the artwork and games are fabulous! We won a hand-screened t-shirt. Sweet! Congrats and good luck on Saturday (and the rest of the month!)
