So my Domain name is all up for Renewal in the next month or so and I am considering doing a total revamp to my portfolio site. Part of it is the possibility of Changing it from .net to .com.
Do you guys think it makes a difference?
Currently I am at "www.torn012.net" so I would just change that to "www.torn012.com" Or should I re-vamp it more and make it "tornangel.com"

I would pick tornangel.com. I like that. Does the 012 has significance? But I like without it.

Well 012 means "forever" in korean pager code and that is part of my original concept.
It all stems from two ideas. One is a Quote that I love "We are all angels with only one wing and we can only reach heaven by embracing each other in love"
And with that how even the Angels were torn and had to decide their sides between good and evil and just how frustrating it can be even to make daily decisions. Thus we are "torn forever"Posted 3 years ago # -
OK... are you marketing specifically to people who know that '012' means "forever" in korean pager code?
If yes, then that seems like an "in-joke"... as in your customers would get it.
If not... well, I read '012' and it doesn't have much significance for me. Kinda like when I watched 'Children of the Corn' with a Japanese family; they didn't get the symbolism.
Plus, it's a bad movie but that's beside the point *snicker* .

yes Childern of the Corn is a VERY bad movie. And I could do with losing the 012 it's just that it's been that way for like 8 years or so. Another friend Suggested I just have both a new and keep the old and just post on the old that it will cease to exist in a matter or months or year.

no point in having a .NET domain name.

Tornangel.com!!!!!! Or listen to Roland, that sounds super IT savvy!!!

I am not a fan of numbers in email, twitter id or websites, I think they are hard to remember. But that is just my opinion. Plus, .com is kind of the standard, but I am curious, is it short for company or commerce? I know org is organization and gov is government, but .net and .com don't seem to have the same identifiers.

Another vote for Roland's suggestion...

I'm pretty shocked that tornangel.com is still available.

Aiite so it looks like tornangel.com but I will keep my .net since it is on my business cards and just get it all redirected to the .com site and then when i print my next set of Cards it will be the new address.
Thanks for all the input!
P.S. nobody be a jerk and buy my .com name before I get the chance!

If you get any traffic at all to your old site and if it's listed in any search engines, you should think about just keeping the old name as a redirect. If you let go the name, someone else can hijack it. Even if that doesn't happen, you'll still be competing with yourself for as long as it takes the search engines to get the idea. It shouldn't be more than about $5 a year just for the name.
