Yeah, I'm OK with living in a city associated with designer ice cream. Yum.
@AndrewHall... while it may not be a tremendous tourist draw, the Columbus Public Library is a Carnegie library (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnegie_library) and I believe does attract a certain amount of architectural historians who go to see the building, and it has some beautiful stained glass. They also have art and history displays in the building, which could have a draw for visitors. I have certainly visited libraries in other major cities: Boston Public Library, the British Library, the New York public library, the Athenaeum in Philadelphia... so it really isn't as far-fetched as you are making it sound.Other libraries make a significant effort to curate and promote exhibits. Ours does not. (I don't think that is a bad thing.) I am not disputing that libraries can't be draws. I am disputing that ours are.
A.
At the present time, CML does not have the budget to adequately promote its exhibits. A shame because they're doing quality work.
Once completed in 2013, in Sullivant Hall, the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum will be a major draw.
For stats sake, the Thompson Library had 1,000,000 visitors in its first nine months after reopening.
