They have them in LA, Portland, San Fran, Chicago, New York, Cinci, Ann Arbor, and other places I'm sure.
Def: Urban Iditarod ...
... "a wacky shopping cart race through the city. It's named in tribute to the Alaskan Iditarod - a brutal 1,100-mile dog-sledding race - but instead of dogs, it's people; instead of sleds, it's shopping carts. While physically attached to their grocery carts, theme inspired teams push through a nearly 4-mile course picking up items on a grocery list and stopping at five mandatory checkpoints to replenish lost fluids and discuss tales of mayhem. 'Sleds' will consist of decorated legally obtained shopping carts. There are no winners or losers in event, but [some] cities offer a 'Best in Show' prize. This race occurs on the first Saturday of March; the same date as the actual Alaskan Iditarod"
I say Columbus needs an Urban Iditarod! It can be for charity (for maybe Pet Shelters or the Humaine Society in Columbus), it can have a team costume/theme contest winner, and it can be fun. Anyone interested?
