This sneaks up on me every year. By the time I remember it's too late to go without resorting to sleeping in an alley. It's on my calendar already for next year with reminders to plan early. Can't wait Can't wait!!!!

ya know…as much fun as it was, the whole SXSW thing made me want to return to Austin to check it out when it's a little less crazy. For say, Austin City Limits fest, or just when nothing is going on.
I had the impression that it would be an amazing time to see all the bands I ever wanted to see, and for sure, those concerts are taking place there. But we had what turned out to be the meager "band wristbands" as opposed to the coveted "press laminate" which seemed to guarantee access to all the shows that we were denied access to. Our entire Friday was spent trying to unsuccessfully get into shows we wanted to see. I can't imagine what the SXSW experience would have been like without the wristbands. Pretty freaking lame, I would i guess. I was told you can get one of those laminate things for like, 6 or 7 hundred dollars. Which obviously transforms the whole "free shows" into something entirely different. Still not sure about how I feel about the whole thing. If you have the hookup, it has got to be an amazing experience. If you have "less than the hookup", then it's whatever you can talk your way into/sneak your way into/bribe your way into. If you're into that, then it might be a blast.
