Suburbs feeling state-aid cuts

Some central Ohio communities are starting to feel the effects of state budget cuts: higher fees and cuts in long-offered services. In Hilliard, swimming-pool memberships for the city’s 28,000 residents will increase $10 this year. Nonresidents will pay even more as a result of recent Hilliard City Council action. The city’s three-tier fee schedule is now two-tier, with school-district residents and nonresidents facing higher pool fees than residents for use of the Hilliard Family Aquatic Center.
