COLUMBUS, Ohio – Though theories as to why differ, the number of homicides in the city has dropped dramatically.Last year at this time 74 killings had been reported since the beginning of the year in Columbus, this year, only 53 have, NBC 4's Mike Bowersock reported.
The city said that the numbers show that its programs have worked.
"The anti-gang initiative, the strike force in the summer, where we flood the street with officers… that stops trouble before it starts," Barb Seckler, of the public safety department, said.
