Before anything, I want to say this is not an anti-buckeye thing. I just don't care about football. I have spoken to a lot of people who just don't leave their house on Saturday's in fall because it's depressing, they think nothing is going on, they don't want to deal with game day traffic... This is simply an attempt to encourage people to make a conscious effort to leave the house on Saturday's if they are not enjoying game day activities.
So here is the facebook group description, then the link, then you can nail me to the wall for it:
This group is a pledge to explore our city on Saturdays in fall. The sidewalks, shops and theaters are dead. People don't dare throw events for fear of poor attendance. This damages the local economy and puts independent stores and restaurants at risk. It also has an impact on the ability of our city and culture to expand and promotes the misperception that Columbus is "just a college town."
This is a completely informal organization. We/you may wish to throw events to highlight it but it all boils down to one action: you will make an effort to do things on Saturday. Those things don't have to involve spending money. Go to a park, museum, or concert. Just walk around the Short North or German Village. You making it a point to just leave your house can have a huge impact.
