Columbus History Bus Tour Begins
One frustrating thing your guide has found about visiting a city is that it's difficult to drive AND see the sights. And taking a taxi is expensive.
In Columbus, the Columbus Historical Society has a solution: take the history bus! On Saturdays through October 6, 2007 you can ride an air conditioned bus tour to see the historical sights around Columbus. Each week the same tour route visits Franklinton, German Village, the Arena District, Short North, Olde Towne East, Woodland Park, and the Franklin Park Conservatory among others. Buses board at 10:00 a.m. at the Columbus Historical Society Offices, 51 Jefferson Avenue, downtown Columbus, returning at 12:30 p.m.
Tickets are $20 with discounts for seniors, children, and historical society members. Reservations are required. Call (614)224-0822 ext. 2 for reservations.
Could be pretty cool, though it'll depend on how it's structured - if there's stops to allow some walking around in parts of town, a guide pointing out details, etc. If nothing else, it's an easy way for tourists & other out of townies to get a quick intro to Columbus's historic areas.
Too bad there's nothing about it on the Columbus Historical Society web page though...
