Alright, I need this. Can you sell it like that, or are they unframed? Should I just email you or how would this work best?

I can sell it like this. It costs a little bit extra to mount/frame it up like that but it isn't too bad! If you'd like, I can do one painted in silver like this one, and then put a red behind it... you know... OSU colors...

That looks amazing! I would love to find a place to put that in my apartment.

Hey again. Sorry to spam my own thread but I wanted to show everyone the colors I've been messing with. Would like to hear which ones people liked better than others!

Also updated the Etsy with larger photos: https://www.etsy.com/listing/111131555/columbus-cut-map

1. Top left
2. Bottom left
3. GreenThe reds aren't doing anything for me. What is the combo you posted five posts up?

That was grey-on-black.. which is close to the top left. The red one is a red/grey for an OSU feel, but I agree, the black/white ones look the best.

I like the black ones the best, then the reds. Not really into the green myself. Is maybe a dark purple an option?

Those are extremely awesome. They're very similar to a figure-ground map:

Figure ground map highlights buildings rather than streets (buildings in black, everything else in white). If you looked at a figure ground map of Columbus from 1950 vs Now, they would look VASTLY different.

Actually, here's one of Columbus:

Very simply highlights the urban decay in the second picture...a LOT more white.

I saw that it was 20 hours do to the pattern. Have you looked at doing other cities? I'm not sure about having a Columbus pattern on my Akron wall office, but I'd love to have Akron (or Cleveland).

saw this deal on livingsocial for something somewhat related:

I love this map from These Are Things - I've got it hanging in my office.

Whoa! That's really cool. Wonder how they made it.
By The Way.... I figured out a way to do any city in much less time than 20Hrs so hopefully next week I will have some samples of NYC, Chicago, LA, Paris, and some other major cities. I also plan to make Cincy and Cleveland for my Ohio folks!

Alright... I'm back from the dead! I figured out how to do ANY city much more efficiently so I'm happy to announce that if you want a custom map made, I will have it made for you! Just email me at cutmaps@gmail.com and I will figure something out. I am with my laser this week so if you want something for Xmas, let me know this week so I can have it made. Otherwise it might be a few weeks before I can get to it. I did decide on a final price. All the maps will be $100 for the map and $150 framed. I've also increased the final size of the map to 18"w x 24"h. The Columbus maps are still on CU discount, but the new, larger ones will be priced as I mentioned.
Here are some cities I did recently:
Chicago

Cincy

NYC

Paris

Anyway... feel free to contact me or check out https://www.facebook.com/CutMaps for updates.
Thanks y'all!

Hey all! Sorry to bump an ancient thread. Staufs Coffee roasters in Grandview generously allowed me to show my work at their store for the next month. I've got a ton of cities plus some cool Ohio stuff in there. I'll post some pictures here soon but if you get a chance, stop by and take a look!

I missed this thread entirely the first time around, so if I were you I'd keep coming back with timely and informative updates like this ^ - I don't think anyone will mind :)
Very, very cool work!
