Hey yo, real cool stuff. Polis is right…ArcGIS would make this wayyyyyyy easier. I just so happen to have an illustrator file for all the streets in Pittsburgh. What would need to be done to it to get one of your fancy cut maps?

We had these on display in our store last night during Gallery Hop, and they got a great response. There was a lot of interest in ordering these.

I would like to thank Steve from The Candle Lab for showing my maps over the weekend! It was a very very generous offer and the response was great as he mentioned. Cbustransit, if you get me that Illustrator file I will take a look at it. One of the unique things about mine is that I have different line thicknesses for each kind of road (Highways are big, side streets are small). That might be hard to do with certain kinds of files. I definitely want to do other cities. It’s a lot easier when you know cool sites like CU and can have a personal relationship with local businesses to get the word out.

cfinn… just email me at dldude05@gmail.com and I will put you on the list!

Glad CU could help with this! ;)

Ok, so you have thickness per type of road rather than right of way…I’ll look into my files. I downloaded it from GIS, so it might already be divided into types of roads.

Hey everyone! Good news! I’m in the process of cutting out the first batch of maps. Got down to Virginia (Where my laser is located) and the tube had died, but alas I was able to get one in quick and it’s off to the races now.

After setting everything up in a more ‘manufacture-y’ mode, I am able to get these things produced much more efficiently! Time = Money as we know, so I was able to get these down to the price of $100 per map. Of course, our CU members still get it for $75. Hopefully I will be able to make enough of these to show again at the Candle Lab and have some to sell there too (if they are as kind as they were last time!). I’ll keep y’all posted.

How hard would it be to custom race tracks to scale? I was thinking circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal for me, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Circuit_Gilles_Villeneuve.png

    or Monza would be interesting.

Wouldn’t be too hard, but the nature of those tracks doesn’t really lend well to this kind of thing. It would be essentially an oval piece. It would be cooler I think to engrave it or something, but still a little lacking. What would be cool is to do something for a grand prix like this one in Baltimore: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9c/Baltimore_Grand_Prix_circuit.png

Alright, I need this. Can you sell it like that, or are they unframed? Should I just email you or how would this work best?

I can sell it like this. It costs a little bit extra to mount/frame it up like that but it isn’t too bad! If you’d like, I can do one painted in silver like this one, and then put a red behind it… you know… OSU colors…

That looks amazing! I would love to find a place to put that in my apartment.

Hey again. Sorry to spam my own thread but I wanted to show everyone the colors I’ve been messing with. Would like to hear which ones people liked better than others!
